Common sense change - buyers can't leave feedback on cancelled orders they request
If an order is cancelled at a buyers request, there is no order to rate, therefore buyers should have zero ability to leave any feedback on a non-order such as this.
Common sense. Ebay likes to leave it because its one more avenue to have sellers amass an unfair defect on their account. And it is a defect, because prospective buyers distrust it and ebay will take it into consideration as a metric of your account health.

·1 year agoEbay now removes bad feedback in regards to cancellation. As far as a defect well if you are a seller and you cancel an order which your item is "out of stock" then yes you will get a defect. Has nothing to do about Ebay "liking" to give a defect it has to do with the buyers experience and your actions as a seller. Ebay doesn't want cancellations. If you are trying to educate the community about this every regular here already knows this.

OP1 year agoWell its not true that they won't remove it because we still have sellers experiencing it. Also do not change the topic, you know I was very specific in terms of what type of cancellation I was discussing - only the type where the buyer requests it. You bringing up other forms of cancellation where it is due to seller error, is a strawman argument and I don't appreciate you trying to do that and making it out like thats also what I am trying to say should be included.

I see no negatives for you. eBay might have removed it, and if so, that indicates AI is working... at last.
A question please for those with more experience:
When removing feedback in the case of a cancelled order, does eBay distinguish between (a) a buyer who sends a cancellation request to a seller and (b) a seller-initiated cancellation of an order?
The first is a no-brainer that a computer can easily figure out.
The second seems to me to be a bit more opaque. How does eBay know the seller is telling the truth and that feedback removal is thus justified? Does eBay look for message traffic between buyer and seller?

OP1 year agoI am not talking about anything specific to me at this time. I brought this up because of what I have heard other sellers talking about. Namely that they were having buyers leave them neutral/negative fb on orders the buyer asked them to cancel, and the basic fairness and common sense premise that if there is no order anymore because a buyer asked to cancel it and it is cancelled, they shouldn't be able to leave fb on the now non-order. Nothing took place, order-wise, notning to rate occurred. Therefore, no chance the buyer can ruin a sellers fb rating.
