Thought I'd have a chance to post some of this in the Seller Meeting today, but didn't seem to be an opportunity......
On post title page, we need:
Visual Designation of locked threads
Visual Designation of posts with Ebay Employee answers
Visual Designations of posts with unread content.
Choice of Categories to appear in left column …...and permanency of those choices
Ability to delete messages, I have 3 shown that date back 4-5 years...
More posts to be available on the page.... Right now....I'm seeing about 12-14....the rest of the space is eaten by large pictures serving no purpose that I can see.....they are “glaring” to me..... if links are wanted to other pages....no need for pictures.
Correction/deletion of “Related Discussions”.....at the top right...... many times these links to like questions date back years and the information is outdated....but people click and post on them, bring up old, useless threads.
on post threads, we need:
be taken to last message read.....difficult because of threading but even to last unread reply would help....using the bell notification is VERY disrupting to continuity of reading the posts
larger indent for replies.....
Notifications (Red number)
I now have over 1000 shown. I “think” (since no explanation of the process) every board I “join” will show posts and updates of replies, plus notifications of emojis. I've only joined 2 boards. Can't imagine the # if I joined more. To click on each notification is very disrupting to follow threads, it also clutters up my email since notifications are also sent there. The previous Bolding on the title page of posts that contained unread content was much better.

·1 month agoHow do you guys find the latest posts if they are threaded and buried within somewhere?
dhbookds
OP1 month agoThe set up now: If you have "joined the board", you get a notification (clicking on those red numbers on top right) that there has been a post
Clicking on the notification above, you are taken to that post.
Seems simple enough, but obviously, if you have joined alot of boards......there can be A LOT of notifications.
To me this destroys the continuity of the threads. Kind of like having to go to a book index every time to find the next page.
Frankly, when I see posted within last x minutes, I'll just go to the thread and scan it and can usually see a new comment. Probably miss a few.....but the notification thingy aggravates me so much.....that's ok. I do have the set up as oldest to newest......

·Jul 17, 2026 at 5:14 PMAlso there is a sort button at the top left of each thread. Keep in mind that sort seems to sort by the originating post. Meaning if someone responds directly to a post, the date and time for those is not considered, it goes by the post. For example your post on this question would be the date and time used for this sort, not my response to it or anyone else's. For me it is confusing and so easy to miss posts.
dhbookds
OPJul 17, 2026 at 11:50 PMI sure couldn't figure it out......the Oldest First seem to keep everything in "order" as to subject/replies, even if the reply was long after the post that was being replied to........and seems to work best for me.

"Ability to delete messages"
1. Click the blue View all at the bottom of the column.
2. Scroll to the conversation you don't want to see anymore. When your cursor reaches it, you'll see that it highlights the whole cartouche with a pale gray background, and a 3-dot menu appears on the far right.
3. Click it and choose 'Hide conversation'
dhbookds
OP1 month agoAh...........thanks, that worked........the dots were so faint, I hadn't seen them before.........

·1 month ago · EditedYes, and TINY. -Just like the thread connecting lines that are so skinny and pale gray they're completely invisible to me unless I angle my laptop screen just perfectly.

·1 month agoGreat thread, thank you @dhbookds
Taking one issue at a time. DMs is a mess IMHO. While I don't mind it on the left, the list is completely inaccurate in telling me what messages are sitting in my DMs. Some of the names on the list I do not have any messages from.
And all the messages I had before the switch over to the new format are gone. I considered some of them important and even some I was in a continuing conversation with.
I'm sure there is more, but it is a start.
dhbookds
OP1 month agoYep......the 3 I have are from Ebay employees in early 2020's. no content. and I don't know how to delete.
The more we post our problems/wants/needs.......the better chance that, at least, some changes will be made. I thought that's what the Seller thing today might do, but didn't happen.

·1 month agoWhy did eBay make the change in forum providers? Was it a money issue? Was the previous provider messing up? Who told who to take a hike, and how do we get the old operators back?
This new Bevy forum is total garbage and changes to make it better don't seem to be a priority.

·1 month ago · EditedTO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF NOTIFICATIONS (this is something I've seen so many complaints about, it's tempting to make a whole post for it).
1. Click your avatar in the upper right corner of any screen, and select Profile from the pull-down menu.
2. Select Updates from the bottom-right menu.
3. Go down the list of all the kinds of notifications you can get. Decide which ones you don't care to get .
4. Don't forget to hit Save at the bottom of the screen.

OP1 month agoWe would have no need for notifications at IF Post titles could be bolded (like on the old board) to indicate new content and we were taken to that new content when we opened the thread. Trying to read from the notification is an necessary step (my opinion) . Messages have their own slot on this first page.
gurlcat
·1 month agoWait are you saying you didn't rely on notifications at all, in the old khoros forum? I certainly did. Otherwise I can't picture what you did ... just go to forums' newsfeeds and scroll, going by memory on whether you had participated in this or that one??
dhbookds
OP1 month agoI used it for messages and/or @ 's...... The posts were bolded if a new post was added, so I just scrolled down the list and read those that were bolded.....much easier to me than the present iteration.
gurlcat
·1 month ago@dhbookds Okay, so now can you clarify what you mean by "Choice of Categories to appear in left column …...and permanency of those choices"
Categories of what??
dhbookds
OP1 month agoI view this:
As a place to be able to put boards I'm interested in...on a permanent basis. Right now, the boards shown flip around and trying to navigate "view all" is a recipe for an ulcer. I'm forever looking for Tech Board (under About up top) and forgetting where it is.
gurlcat
·1 month agoAhhh, thanks! I didn't even realize that menu was there in the left side. Well that's just stupid because they can already be selected from the top, going left-to-right, just like it was in the khoros version.

·1 month agoRegarding “related discussions “: how could these two - from 2021 !!! - possibly be helpful here?
Can’t the administrator of this community do better than that?
dhbookds
OP1 month agoyep, that's what I'm talking about......
gurlcat
·1 month agoWhat's weird about that is, before the switch, they said they would only import posts going back to 2023.

·1 month agoI un-joined all the groups because I couldn't handle the notifications. It is just hard to keep up with all the communications in my world. Thanks for taking the time to point out these areas of improvement needed!

·1 month agoThe title has changed...'Selling Discussion Board'...I believe it had "Community" in the previous title...kinda explains some.
I will get a 100 new posts and maybe 85 are 'Ask a Mentor'...which the group is not that large...so a question might get an answer or so...but usually not 'marked' answered(solution).
And asking a question and then searching to see if it got answered...that used to be easy to navigate.
I am having a better time on TikTok with the eBay community discussions.
I posted a question in 'Ask a Mentor' and 'general post' and could not even see if I got an answer.
This 'selling discussion board' is set up more like a employee company board to me and not as a selling community discussion board.
It just isn't the same for me...it lost it's luster.
dhbookds
OP1 month agoI can understand your angst......
gurlcat
·1 month ago@12345jamesstamps You are seeing all those Ask A Mentor posts because you are using the homepage as your newsfeed. Stop doing that. Go straight to the Selling forum (or Buying, or any other forum), and you will not see any Ask A Mentor posts in the title feed.
mam98031
·1 month agoKeep in mind that posts in the AAM [Ask a Mentor] board don't have a marked "Answer" unless someone goes in and actually marks one of the posts as the answer to the question. We use to be able to have that done here in the Community, but that option is not currently available.
gurlcat
·1 month agoOkay, starting at the top: What do you mean by the "title page"? I noticed especially in the first few weeks, there were tons of complaints about too many Ask A Mentor posts, which I couldn't understand because in the khoros Community I avoided seeing AAM titles by simply going straight to a forum (usually Selling). And I guess I assumed everybody did that. But what this Bevy Community made me realize was that lots of people used the main "Homepage" like the front page of a newspaper, with the mix of all forum titles all together -BUT apparently on the khoros version those didn't include AAM titles, whereas this one does.
SO, when you say title page, do you mean this:
.....or this:
dhbookds
OP1 month agoI mean the 2nd example.....all the posts that are on the first page of a particular board........

·1 month agoThanks for posting this. I started a similar thread yesterday, but deleted it.
I don't look at the the board as much as I used to because I waste too much time trying to find new posts on threads and rereading old posts. It's probably just me not understanding how it works now, but I'm not a fan. I've never liked threading (preferred just quoting who I was responding to if not the OP), but that seems to be why I can't easily find new posts. If I read down a thread the posts are all over the place and in odd order. I find a new one and then one from a week ago and then later on another new one. I usually just give up.
I miss seeing who posted last, the thread being a darker color to alert me I haven't read it or new posts are available.
gurlcat
·1 month agoI actually like threaded replies when they're done right, like on Reddit. Here: not so much, for the reasons you stated.
dhbookds
OP1 month agoI miss seeing who posted last, the thread being a darker color to alert me I haven't read it or new posts are available.
Really agree with this......thanks for posting......
gurlcat
·1 month ago · EditedHere's another problem, and I could be mistaken but I think it wasn't the case until just recently: the date/time of an original post doesn't show when you have the page open. It does show in the title feed, but if you didn't notice that before clicking to open it, then the only way to get any idea of the post's age is to look at replies (sorted by 'Oldest'). -Like I said, I THINK this is an element that just went missing very recently, but I could be wrong.
mam98031
·1 month agoI recently reported this issue. No response yet, but I did report it.
participatrophy
·1 month agoYou're not mistaken. It was definitely there before. The line under the username had Posted <datestamp> - Edited <relative time elapsed> - Last reply <relative time elapsed> for the OP instead of the Feedback count & View listings links that are there now.

·1 month agoI suspect this post is going to become a self-fulfilling prophesy example of what you're saying, as in a total mess, but particularly in this case because you're brought up such a huge glut of concerns, not all of them are quite clear (to me anyway), and some of the ones I think I get are actually not true or they're changes you can make yourself but you just haven't figured out how to do them yet (which I'll be glad to help with).
But yeah, I suspect your notification page is going to light up like Christmas with replies, with people agreeing or disagreeing with this or that, misunderstanding what you meant about this or that, and then those people disagreeing or misunderstanding each other ... and then things like people who don't yet understand how to reply to replies and start new replies to the main post instead, and, and, and ....... 😫
dhbookds
OP1 month ago@gurlcat be glad to explain what isn't clear......I didn't want to make a book on it........and equally glad for any help you can offer.........
gurlcat
·1 month agoI'm actually tickled pink to discuss these things; I want so bad for this place to become comfortable so as to prevent a mass exodus of wonderful people.
So I will write probably many replies, each addressing a separate 'thing' to prevent ugly cluster sub-threads of mixed replies to them.

·1 month agoThanks for your tenacity girlcat ... appreciated by all of us.
mam98031
·1 month agoI sincerely hope you will do that. Maybe one issue at a time so that it is easier to follow the responses. I personally am having a very hard time following the new format, but I'm trying. I'll start it off with a post in a moment.
