Combined shipping, invoice

Question

Greetings,

It seems buyers cannot request an invoice if they want to buy several books that we have at a discount. We are not an auction site but I can never find the answer to this question. If someone wants to order 30 books he is charged shipping for each one. We always combine & refund but many times it's a much bigger price to pay than the customer wants to deal with initially.

Am I missing something somewhere?

Discount offers won't combine for shipping. It's dumb. It needs to be fixed.

And now Ebay isn't sending notices to the Seller that there is a Combined Invoice Request. I think they want to remove all functionality other than us giving them access to our bank accounts.

This issue has been going on since 2012, the rules that others have posted are only partial, therer are other non-publized reasons why the Request Total button is not available.

In any event here are you options.....

1 - Tell your buyer what the actual shipping would be and tell them you will (quickly?) refund their over-payment .

2 - Ask the buyer for a list of the item they want and create a custom listing at the agreed upon price (when they buy make sure to end all the original listings so you don't double sell.

I run into this issue frequently, I do one of the above (#1 preferred) with no problems.

Paying for items in your cart

Generally, you can pay for all of the items in your cart together, even if they're from different sellers, by selecting Go to checkout.

If you'd rather pay one seller at a time, select Pay only this seller.

There are a few situations where you'll have to check out separately:

If the seller hasnâ€™t specified shipping costs for your location, select Message to seller on the checkout page to ask them for shipping options
If the seller hasn't specified rules for combining shipping costs on multiple items, select Request total on the cart page
If you're buying from different sellers and the same payment method is not available for all items, or you're buying items listed in different currencies, you'll have to make separate payments
