Changing Principal Officer on nonprofit / eBay for Charity account
Hi. I am the primary contact for an eBay for Charity account.
When I opened the account in 2021, we had two principal officers (Board members) with me as the Primary Contact. (3 people)
In 2022, I joined the Board and one of our Principal Officers left the board. I removed the retiring officer and added myself as a Principal officer (and remained the Primary Contact). (2 people)
In 2024, I am no longer on the Board of Directors, but I am still the eBay manager for our nonprofit and the Primary Contact on eBay account. However, I now cannot add our new Board President as a Principal Officer. I get an error message that says: Number of charity officers exceeds the maximum allowed. We currently only have two people, if you include me).
After months of calls to Customer service and being told the matter would be researched, I was told on Friday that changing the board members and/or Primary Contact amounts to transferring the account to a new owner and is against eBay policy. However, the account owner is the same. The owner is the Board of Directors of the non-profit, using one tax payer ID number. On Friday, the customer service rep told me we would have to close our account and start a new one in order to update the Board members/ principal officers.
This makes no sense to me. Can you help? Why can't I add our new Board President as a Principal Officer? Is there some kind of lifetime limit to the number of officers who can be on an eBay for Charity account? Is this a software glitch?
