Changing categories out of the ebay motors.
Summary: inhawaii shared a challenge they faced while trying to change the category of a "baby on board" sign from eBay Motors to another section on eBay. They attempted to remove any references to cars or vehicles from the listing but still encountered issues. They later concluded that it's not possible to change the category of an active listing; instead, one must end the listing and create a new one, which results in losing the sales history.
I had a listing for a "baby on board" type sign.
When I originally listed it, it went in the ebay motors section.
I'm trying to move it out of ebay motors as a toy or decal but it wont let me no matter what I do.
I got rid of any text that mentions a "car" or a "vehicle".
It still would not let me do it.
I even got rid of the pictures.
It still would not let me do it.
I keep getting the same error message (below).
I keep changing the category to something other than ebay motors, then I get the error message, then the category goes back to ebay motors.
How does it know -or- why does it think this is an automotive item?
I beginning to wonder if it is even possible to move anything OUT of the ebay motors section?

OP1 month agoFor anyone who didn't know or anyone who cares, i've come to the conclusion that you can't change a category and move a listing out of ebay motors. I had to create a new listing, but of course you lose the sales history.

Yes, it is possible to move an active listing out of eBay Motors, but you cannot simply "edit" the main category of a live listing. You must first end the current listing and then recreate it in the standard eBay marketplace.
So the answer shouldnt be YES, the answer should be NO.
Did I catch AI in a lie or a mistake? LOL
