Casual Reseller
Hello - I have an existing account and I have been reselling on EBay for almost a year. I have gradually been going beyond my “free†250 listings each month. I am averaging about 325 right now and want to list more. It is worth paying a monthly fee to open a store? And if I do, can I use my existing EBay User name?
Thank you - Traci

·1 year agoThere is no doubt that the basic store is more cost-effective than paying extra listing fees.
There is another question which usually goes unasked.
That is will your extra listing have a sell through rate which justifies carrying the additional inventory, storing it, and dealing with the additional complexity a larger inventory creates.
Some sellers might benefit from maintaining a lower number of listings, and disposing of their mistakes.
I have a strategy based on lots of slow turning inventory, and have learned how to manage it, but some people cannot afford the time and effort it requires.

Yes!! I suggest you open up a store immediately if you are averaging 325 listings right now. You would be growing your business.

Your username doesn't change.

·1 year ago"Worth" is a value judgement. Only you can answer that question.
But here are some numbers and some grade-school math:
So if nothing changes and you want to go over every month for a year, an annual subscription could save you money. You can subscribe from your existing account.

·1 year agoWhile that is likely the biggest perk to save money, the reduction in FVF is important too.

Absolutely. The Basic store is a good investment when you list 300+ listings regularly. It will save you money.

·1 year agoAdvantage of having EBAY store is that customers can view "all your items" which might result in more sales. Without a store you get 250 "free listings" and if you pay for "$7.95/MONTH starter store" you get "250 free". If you pay for "$27.95 MONTH basic store" you get "1,000 fixed price + 250 auction + 10,000 in select categories".

OP1 year agoThank you all for your input. This is all very helpful and I appreciate it. I went ahead and opened a basic store. The process was easy. Have a great day all. 🙂

·1 year agopretty easy to do the math............75 (over the 250) x 35c =26.25...... basic store is $22 a month, with a 12 month commitment, $30 on a month to month basis. (rounded off numbers.)

Question is.....do you have enough inventory/sales/motivation to sustain the number of listings over 250?

·1 year agoA basic store includes 1,000 "Free" listings.
$27.95 per month on a monthly basis or $21.95 per month if
you agree to a 12 month duration with a penalty
to cancel early.
IMO a basic store is the way to go for you.
Everything including your user name is transferable.
It's quite simple to rent a basic store and
start hammering out them new listings.
You paid 75 X .25 for the extra listings, $18.75

·1 year agoIn addition, you can scale much larger with a Basic Store than even those 1000 listings, because for a while now eBay has provided an additional 10,000 listings in "Selected categories", which include some signficant ones like books and media. We have over 7,000 items listed right now with a Basic Store and don't pay for insertions except in some of the rare cases when we list an auction.

·1 year agoYes, at that number of listings it is worth opening a store. Nothing changes other than you get additional discounts and features.
