Cash on collection, untick managed by ebay payments?
A friend wants me to list some of their garden equipment for parts, not working, and they asked if I can list it as cash on collection, to make it easier for them to get their money. It's for an old man who's not good with the internet or online payments.
Only thing is, while it does offer the choice of Cash on Collection tick box, it won't let me untick the box for Payments Managed by Ebay. Does that mean I can't list their things if I don't want their things going though my bank? Can I write in the description that I prefer cash on collection? A customer even told me once that they wanted to pay cash on collection, but it still went in the bank, as Ebay had automated it when they made an offer.
Any tips to make cash on collection easier please?

·2 years agoIf you are selling broken non-working garden equipment, for local pickup and cash, why not just use Facebook or Craig's List?

You are in the UK...........this is the US board and sellers are going to answer from the US experience. The Rules may be different in the UK........suggest you ask on that board........
Go down to the right hand corner of any page and put UK in the Site box, then pick "ebay community" to access the UK boards.......

OP2 years agoOk thanks, but when I clicked on the UK flag it just took me to Ebay UK, but not any Ebay community forum to ask questions.

OP2 years agoI think the answers also apply here, because it seems as if you don't have any choice but to include online payments managed by Ebay. Suppose I'll just have to transfer he money over to him, minus the selling fees if they pay online, or if they pay him cash direct, he can give me the selling fees in cash later.

·2 years agoAnd what happens if a buyer files for a return? Or the buyer does a chargeback? Is your neighbor going to pay you back if you end up having to refund the buyer?
This is why selling for other people with your account, generally does not work out. Unless you are going to buy it and worry about selling it, your neighbor and you are better off finding another way to sell the stuff.

·2 years agoLet them know that if they want to pay online, the price will include sales tax collected by a marketplace facilitator. Cash on pickup won't require sales tax, as you're just a guy unloading some old broken stuff for a friend.

·2 years agoIf you are going to use an online platform to sell these items, you cannot circumvent the policies or you risk getting demerits on your own selling account. It doesn't matter what you write in your descriptions, the payments must follow the platform's policies. It is not possible to ONLY accept cash payments in person, an electronic payment option must be allowed. Also, you will be charged fees and taxes for listing and/or selling those items so make sure that your neighbor understands that part as well. Best of luck to you....

While you can offer cash on pick-up you CANNOT use that exclusively, ALL listings including pickup must include an electronic payment method and you must accept that payment method if the buyer chooses to use it.
