Can't view sold listing.
Lately, some of the time, when I try to view a sold listing, eBay redirects me to a listing for sale. I get "We found something similar". I don't want something similar, I want to see how the original sold item was listed. Is there a way to get around yet another eBay "improvement"?

OP3 years agoThere is no "see original listing" link. See the screen shot. I searched for "classic armor" under sold listings. Clicked on this item, and it went straight to what you see above. It doesn't always do it, and it doesn't seem to do it on my Chrome Book.

·3 years agoUsually there's a link above the similar listing that takes you to the original listing. Are you not seeing that?

·3 years agoClosed listings can be viewed by clicking the link to "see original listing", but when the item is in eBay's catalog, I haven't found a way to get to the original listing. Very frustrating.

·3 years agoInteresting. I haven't run into that yet even though I've viewed a bunch of sold listings that were tied to the catalog. Would be interested in a link if you come across an example at some point.
When that happens, does it not work to go directly to the item page using the item number? Does it still redirect?

When searching through sold listings, there's no way to get to the item number. The only way would be to open the listing, and eBay is preventing that. If I were looking for info on an item I purchased, that might be possible.

OP3 years agoWhen listing something similar, I like to review recently sold items. I'm not looking to copy someone's work, I'm just looking to see if there are keywords I'm missing. Looking at the one that sold for the highest and comparing it to the lowest is sometimes eye opening.

OP3 years agoDoes someone at eBay actually think I'm too stupid to search live listings if I'm looking for an active item? I know they've been trying to dumb down the search for a few years, presumably for the buyers too dumb to actually type in what they're looking for, but this makes no sense at all.

·3 years agoIf you use List View instead of Gallery and click the customize link on the top left, you can include item number in search results.
As for the page you're seeing, I'm seeing something different. I'm not being redirected to the product page. What do you see when you click the info icon in your screenshot - or just click the item photo in that blue banner @yourantiqueguy (specifically the photo, not the title or the blue)?
This is what I'm seeing, so far tried 2 browsers. Not sure why you and I are getting different results, but that inconsistent experience is pretty common on eBay. 😑

OP3 years agoNothing happens when I click anywhere in the banner. You'd think the "I" (info) icon would do something, but it doesn't.

·3 years agoIt appears you are either starting from or being redirected to a product page rather than an item listing.
Product pages have multiple items linked, and when one sells out, the next item is pushed to the top of the stack.
How did you find the original listing?
There is no obvious link to go from the product listing page to a completed item page. One possible workaround is to take the UPC number (not the eBay ePID) and search for that on eBay, then view sold or ended results. From there you should be able to find the original listing.

·3 years agoOK so thanks to this link posted by @eburtonlab I was able to pull up the same page in @yourantiqueguy 's screenshot with the product page and sold item at the top.
As suggested in my last post, clicking on the item photo in that blue banner (nowhere else - just the photo) does take you to the ended listing page.
FYI @shipscript - not sure if the rest of you can replicate my results.

·3 years agosame here...clicked the little photo (only) in the blue banner to go to the Sold Listing you would "normally" see...
also, no matter how i tried i could not get that product page to show without the link provided by @eburtonlab

That works for me, too -- I had not noticed the thumbnail image was a live link, just that the title itself was not.
