Can't send offers to watchers.
Hi, I have some listings with some watchers. I wanted to send an offer to the watchers, but I just get an error saying "Listings not eligible for offers, You can’t send offers to interested buyers for the listings you selected. Try selecting different listings."
The listings are "Buy it Now" listings, and I have never sent offers before. I have a personal account, not a business account, could that be the problem?

·1 year agoIt is my opinion that Watchers are never Buyers.
Viewers looked at your listing in the last 30 days, Watchers are permanent.
I have Best Offer on most of my listings, but rarely have more than a dozen items eligible for sending specific Offers to Viewers.
Interestingly while buyers do accept those Offers, they are often a higher price than I would have considered with the Best Offer already enabled.
I'm surprised that any large percentage of buyers are opted out of receiving Offers.
And I also wonder why that would preclude sending specific Orders to a dozen Viewers?

OP1 year agoI agree most watchers don't end up being buyers. Some of my listings are over a year old, and have 100+ watchers. What I have noticed is a little bump in sales towards the end of the month (as people get paid), and a slight drop off in watchers, meaning that some of those sales were watchers. But its small. I was hoping to send an offer maybe every 6 months to the watchers.

·1 year agoJust because a member is watching an item, doesn't mean they are interested in buying or receiving offer on the item.
Buyers can opt out of receiving offers.
Some will watch at item to see if it sells and at what price so they'll know how to price theirs.
A competitor might be watching to see if you lower the price so they can beat your price.

·1 year agoYour buyers could of just opted out of receiving offers. Many times this is the case and unfortunately you have no way of finding that out.

One suggestion: delete the listing and relist the item. I had one that i couldn't make an offer to the watchers and it had been up for a while (something like several months?) so it may be possible there is a time limit? I deleted that listing, recreated it, and then when i got a watcher i was able to make the offer.

OP1 year agoThe thing is, I have many listings and I can't send offers on any of them. Anyway, I have managed without sending offers for years, so I will just live without them.

·1 year agoThat does sound peculiar and you could add Best Offer (if not already) to your listings if you feel like some of the watchers may want to make you an offer. Either way i hope it works itself out and if you do find out why, please post the reason for others.

·1 year agoNot all interested buyers are eligible to receive unsolicited offers from sellers.
The definition of "spam" is "an unsolicited offer of a commercial nature" which is exactly what an unsolicited offer from a seller is.
eBay has a number of rules that limit who receives an offer:
Any of the above could be the reason your buyer(s) are not eligible.

OP1 year agoThanks, but unfortunately is still not clear as to why I can't make offers.
"Not all listings are eligible. Eligibility is determined by a number of factors, including age of listing, listing format, and rules that manage the number of offers buyers receive".
I've been googling, but can't find any info on why the age of the listing might be a factor. I know the listing has to be in the "Buy It Now" format.
