Cant reach ebay support
Hey guys,
Hoping you can help,
TLDR: I cant seem to contact eBay to assist with an issue and every time i try using their chatbot it says "Hmm, looks like something went wrong. If you try again shortly it should be fixed." Is there another way to contact ebay?
Im shipping an item from Canada to the buyer in the states. I made sure to ship according the the option he selects (FedEx ground). Unfortunately with all the changes at the border the item got sent back to me without explanation. Normally i would contact the buyer to see if they want me to ship it back but the customer was very angry from the start. It seems he didn't check the expected delivery date because he left a negative review on my account saying he was upset it would take so long to ship and that he had to pay import fees.
Im not sure what to do at this point. Im even having trouble contacting FedEx. Spent 3 hours on the phone trying to track my package and see what happened.

·9 months agoIt is infuriating that we can't really contact ebay when we need to, I am having an issue & can't get to the proper way to handle it, No matter how I phrase it to the chatbot, sometimes that thing is completely useless!, A.I.= Artificially inept!

OP9 months agoWow Thanks for the replies. I wasn't getting notifications so i thought no one responded.
I ended up getting the package back from FedEx. Its still unclear on the reasons but its possible the buyer just didn't pay the import fees and duty's. That wasn't an option for me when i shipped it. Out of the three main shipping companies FedEx is the one I've had the most success with in the past but i think its choosing the lesser of three evils so to speak.
I reached out to the buyer over a week ago and have not heard back. I dropped him a message yesterday again and still nothing. At this point i see two options:
- Refund the buyer and try to get the shipping charge back from FedEx
- Keep the package and the cash since it was likely due to his not paying the import fees
I just wish i could properly contact eBay. Still having difficulty with it.

·9 months agoYou would not get any reliable and accurate suggestions from Ebay if you reached them.
This is not an area which is Ebay's responsibility and their reps will ad lib with less knowledge than the posters who responded to your thread have.
Far too many sellers fail to recognize when a problem is solely a business decision of theirs. This is one of those decisions.

·9 months agoDid you ship with all duties prepaid? I believe the US still don’t accept packages with duties unpaid, even through private couriers like FedEx.
I second the suggestion of switching to eBay international shipping or suspend shipping to the US.

·9 months agoI would refund with ALOT of apologies about tariff/shipping problems. And pursue a neg removal thru facebook......
I would NOT try to ship to the US until this stuff straightens out or until you can get into the Canadian International Shipping program which started prior to Xmas. Right now (I think)it is limited to "eligible sellers", but you might explore it and see if you can get into it. That programs handles tariffs and everything else, except actually getting an item to the Canadian Hub.......

·9 months agoI never ship FedEx, because, in my experience, they are the worst shipping company, sending or receiving!
At this point, I would message him to let him know that FedEx returned the package to you without explanation, so you will be sending a refund. Personally, I would not offer to reship. I would also put him on my blocked bidder's list.
Since he's already been nasty and left negative feedback, I would also tell him that since he was upset about the transit time and the customs fees, he should probably only buy from sellers located in the U.S. But that's just me. It's not something that everyone would do.
Since the feedback is unrelated to anything you had control over, you can request that eBay remove it. I don't think it would be an issue. To answer your original question, you can contact eBay through their Facebook account. For Canada: https://www.facebook.com/eBayCanada

·9 months agoyou may also stoke the flames by reminding the buyer you have "0" (zero) control over import fees and they should know that......(since they already bashed you on feedback through no apparent fault of your own) and inquire as to why they chose unreliable FedX ground instead of USPS...if nothing else, it might make you feel better LOL

·9 months agoThey are shipping from Canada, so it's unlikely that USPS was an option.
He was also upset about import fees, and that is out of the seller's control.

·9 months agoSince the worst the buyer can do has already happened, and you have the product, refund.

·9 months agoI would message the buyer and let them know what happened to the package. Give them the option to have it mailed again or get a refund. You can't just make a decision without letting them know the situation. He will probably opt for the refund anyway, as it sounds like it is still in transit back to you. Even though he already left a negative (which stinks), you have to work with him.
Good luck to you.
