Cancelling a second chance offer
Summary: zakky_teriyaki is facing an issue after their item's highest bidder canceled the bid. They've relisted the item as a second chance offer, creating a buy it now (BIN) listing, but haven’t heard back from the underbidder. m60driver suggests ending the listing and relisting it using 'sell similar,' while waiting 48 hours for the underbidder’s response. sin-n-dex discusses timing out of second chance offers, and mr_lincoln provides detailed information on second chance offers, suggesting waiting for it to expire before taking further action. albertabrightalberta explains the workings of second chance offers and suggests possible listing strategies. Meanwhile, it appears the second chance offer is only visible to the underbidder as confirmed in albertabrightalberta's last comment.
I have recently listed an item where the highest bidder cancelled their bid. I've since relisted the item as a second chance offer to the underbidder but this has created a buy it now listing.
I haven't heard back from the underbidder but I have other people interested in the item as they have seen the BIN listing. Is there any way that I can cancel this second chance offer and allow other buyers the chance to access the BIN listing?

·1 week ago@zakky_teriyaki "I've since relisted the item as a second chance offer to the underbidder but this has created a buy it now listing." Relisting an item and sending out a SCO [second chance offer] are two completely different functions. I'm hoping you mean you just sent the SCO.
As others have said, you should wait to see if the buyer responds. Tell that to the others interested. Once you know one way or the other, then you can Relist the item and tell the others they can bid and/or purchase the item.

I would wait for the Second chance offer to expire before doing anything else. If the under bidder's price was acceptable to you then you might get paid that amount.
If the Second chance offer fails then I would suggest Relisting via Auction style since you have more than one interested party and START the bidding at a price you are willing to sell for on one bid. If those other Buyers have messaged you then you can message them back with the new eBay Item number off the new Auction listing, they can paste that right in the Search window and go right to the item.
You can also add the Buy it now option to the Auction at a price at least 30% higher than the starting bid price if you think one of those interested Buyer might want to snap the item up right away for that amount.

·1 week agoSCO (second chance offers) are always BIN.
If they don't respond within the timeframe allowed by ebay, it just goes away.
If you sent an actual SCO, others cannot see it. It's a private listing that just goes to the person (or people) to whom you sent it.
OTOH, if you relisted it with the other bidders bid price, anyone can see and BIN. That is NOT a SCO.

·1 week agoThe offer to the underbidder will time out at some point.
You don't want to offer it as second chance and have it listed as BIN on ebay at the same time, what if both sell? You only have the one item, no?
Not sure what the time is for the underbidder to respond, it might be 96 hours (that's how long they have to respond to offers), someone else might chime in on that since I'm not sure.

The 96 hours seems to be what I recall when sending Second chance offers but it has been a while and I think Sellers can select how long the offer is good for. The Help page may need to be updated on that score, below is what it says and near the bottom it states a Buyer can accept a second chance offer in 1, 3, 5 or 7 days depending on how long the Seller has chosen ... .well, 3 or 5 days is not 4 days (ie: 96 hours).
If you didn't win an auction, the seller might give you another opportunity to buy the item you wanted by sending you a Second Chance Offer.

If you receive a Second Chance Offer, you'll be able to buy the item at the amount you offered in your last bid.
How Second Chance Offers work
A Second Chance Offer is when a seller offers you the item you were bidding on, even though you weren’t the winner. This could be because they found more stock, or their reserve price wasn’t met, but they still want to sell the item.
You can choose to accept the offer and pay for the item, or you can choose not to respond and the offer will expire automatically.
You can opt out of receiving Second Chance Offers by changing your communications preferences in My eBay.
Accepting a Second Chance Offer
If a seller makes you a Second Chance Offer, we’ll send you a “You have a Second Chance Offer” email. You’ll also find the offer in the following places:
Your Messages
The Bids/Offers section of My eBay
There may also be a message on the ended listing page with a link to the offer
You’ll have either 1, 3, 5, or 7 days to accept the offer, depending on how long the seller has chosen.
If you’d like to accept the offer, select Buy it in the email and complete payment like any other eBay purchase. You can also view and accept a Second Chance Offer in the Bids/Offers section of My eBay.

·1 week agoYou can end the listing and then relist using sell similar and notify the other buyers. But I would wait at least 48 hours to give the underbidder a chance to respond.
