Cancel Orders
Why is it that if the seller does not respond to the buyer's cancellation request within 3 days, the seller cannot initiate a cancellation after the timeout? If the seller initiates a full refund, will the order be displayed as canceled?

·9 months agoThat's not how it works; the seller doesn't 'initiate' a refund, they initiate a 'cancel order' and then prompts come up to 'refund buyer'.
The seller can 'initiate' a cancellation anytime- typically before they ship it out and typically it's done before the 'handling time' is passed.

OP9 months agoBut now the issue is that the buyer strongly insists that I cancel the order, yet I am prompted in the backend that the initial cancellation request has timed out, and I am unable to submit a new cancellation request.

·9 months agoIf the buyer requested to cancel and you ignored it, then you cannot cancel the order, as eBay expects you to respond in a timely fashion. If you had declined the cancellation, you would also be unable to then cancel the order. eBay doesn't want to let sellers or buyers string each other along with multiple cancellations requests being initiated and either timing out or being denied.
At this point, you can send a refund, and then archive the order. You cannot cancel it.

OP9 months agoThank you for your response. My initial concern was whether the order would still remain open if I initiated a refund. However, after receiving your answer, I will proceed with refunding the buyer.
