Canadian Tariff Paused for 30 Days
Both the Canadian and Mexican Tariffs---set to take begin tomorrow--- have been paused for 30 days.
My suggestion to our Canadian seller friends is: While this may well be the end of it, you might still want to ensure that you have a contingency plan in place (if needed).
Please let's keep politics out of this thread. This is simply a notice regarding a situation of considerable concern to our Canadian posters and others.

Thank you for understanding.

·1 year agoI was going to say "I'm baaack..." but the news of the tariff pause is travelling very fast in these parts.
Anyway store is ended time away, so hopefully listings are visible soon. No changes are needed just yet. This gives me 30 days to think about it, and gives my shipper 30 days to figure out what's going to happen if the tariffs go through.
I have a few people who are disappointed the auctions ended, but I'm going to run extra items in the next 2-3 weeks to make up for it (and get things sold a little quicker in case tariffs are on... right now I'm sitting on 50 pounds of Canadian trade dollars that I wasn't able to ship).

I assume eBay and other internet sales venues are set up to collect and remit tariffs when and if they apply.

·1 year agoThe other point which I have not seen mentioned in any of the threads, IF the US puts the tariffs on Canadian goods then Canada has vowed to retaliate with tariffs in US goods,
So not only will Canadian sellers be "taxed" out of the US market but it appears that US sellers will also be "taxed" out of the Canadian market. (unless that de minimus things kicks in)

·1 year agoI was mailing my last package (before I got this news) at my shipper's earlier today, and I was saying there that by putting retaliatory tariffs on the US Canadians are being punished because we actually need to order US goods. For one, I can't find affordable clothing I like in my size on eBay.ca from Canadian sellers, so I buy from the US. It's an extra $25 I give my government every time I spend $100 if tariffs apply.
Anyway this is good news, I just wish it hadn't disrupted my auctions into all being ended early Saturday night (no bids, and 45 auctions had bids and I ended to the high bidder since he's my only customer for that product).
