can we give stuff away on here? (new boxes)
I pulled a whole lot of new boxes out of my storage unit and would hate to put them in recycling but I am not sure they are the sort of thing people on Marketplace would want. I bought them years ago to ship LPs. They are 13x13x2 I think. I am in Northern Virginia. Not sure if we are allowed to invite people to come get something for free.

·11 months agoI don't think we can, But it would be great if we could & only charge shipping cost.

·11 months agoHow many do you have. 13x13x2 is a box size I use frequently. Sell them for a penny and then figure out a shipping charge and maybe we can help each other.

OP11 months agoI really appreciate that but I don't want to have to deal with shipping them. I'm going to look them over in terms of w hether they will be good to chop up for stiffening mailers and if not try the ebay or MP route.

Craiglist is great for that.
Post a "curb alert" under Free Stuff and leave it outside your door or driveway.

·11 months agoTry Craigslist (free) for local pickup, and you may even want to make a few bucks on them.

OP11 months agoAside from the rare pretty darn good things I put on MP I have found that if I try to sell anything on there people vanish when I remind them where I live. But they'll come from a long way for free stuff.

·11 months agoJust a thought, @keziak , could you cut them and use them for protective packaging for those Mad Magazines you will be selling?
keziak
OP11 months agoOMwow, that is a great idea! I cut up the boxes I get mailers in but I don't many of them sitting around.

·11 months agoDrop off at goodwill or put in a consignment shop if you don't want to fool with them.........

OP11 months agoI would not have thought of Goodwill as a place to donate stacks of flattened boxes but thanks for the tip. I'll try that if I can't get someone to come pick them up.

·11 months agoThey would probably move quick on marketplace actually. There are plenty of sellers in Virginia and I use the record boxes for lots of things besides records.

OP11 months agoOK interesting. I've used them once in a blue moon for large flat books so if I can find space might keep some. But it's really two very large stacks. I have no idea what my former self was doing ordering that many.

·11 months agoMy reading of the community guidelines is that it's unclear but not technically a violation. I would bet someone would want them, and would pay for them if you wanted, though of course setting up a paid transaction via the boards would not be ok. Those are a great box size for LPs, so any vinyl seller would probably love to have them.
keziak
OP11 months agothanks, Jonathan. Maybe some vinyl dealer in the area will see a listing if I put it up. I'm on the fringe of Northern Virginia which apparently is an issue for some people unless they really want the stuff.

·11 months agoEBAY does not allow you to offer items "for free" or exchange any contact information. I suggest you offer them a local site like NextDoor.
You may want to sell them. Other EBAY sellers have listing 13x13x2 box for $100 for box of 25 (free shipping).

OP11 months agoOK thanks. I don't really want the hassle of shipping them. I guess I could create a listing for a nominal amount and make it local pick up only. I would offer on Marketplace but it seems like on there the boxes are for moving mostly and who wants to move a bunch of LPs in individual boxes.
