Can I sell pre-recorded music cassette tapes?
I have vintage cassette tapes that has music recorded on them from the radio, and/or albums. Can I sell them without erasing the tapes?

·3 years agoI agree with the others. Also cassette tapes are old and fragile. The return is high if the tape pops. I have seen these items at yards sales for less than buck (2 for 1.00 or 4 for $1.00). Very few people will appreciate them. Remember, the quality is very low on these too. Perhaps a library want be interested in them. Goodluck.

·3 years agoYou'll want to erase the tapes. As well, you won't want to present anything in your pictures or on the labels themselves that indicated that there was any specific recorded material on them.

OP3 years agoI see several similar cassette tapes that sold on ebay, and the handwritten songs (contents) are present.

·3 years agoJust because you see it on ebay doesn't mean it's not against policy or it's a good idea. I mention that because you wouldn't want anyone in a position to do anything about it (RIAA or others) to even think you're trying to sell hand-copy (pirated) stuff.

·3 years agoSeeing other eBay listings is not necessarily proof such items are allowed by eBay policy.
Music is protected by copyright laws. Infringement on such intellectual property is something that eBay does not allow. It could be against the law, possibly be considered boot-leg recordings.
Like another poster pointed out, the music would have to be entirely within the public domain to be legal to sell here.
