Can i refuse a package that a customer is sending back
Customer claims Ebay told them to send a package back to us without our agreement. Can we refuse the package? It feels very scammy. They are forcing a refund.

"If you want to be out the package AND your money, yes go ahead and refuse it."

·4 months agoBuyer to phone CS "Can I send my item back". CS to buyer "Yes you can".
That scenario is just as likely as any, until the OP comes back with a bit more detail.

·4 months agoYou can refuse any package. However, that will not stop eBay from refunding.

·4 months agoIf buyer received package and decides to return it back with tracking...if you refuse package...you will have to refund or rather eBay does it and you lose the package.
I had such one like this where buyer did not open a claim.
Buyer sent back item to me and it had something gooey-nasty in a dark plastic bag(I sell stamps) and I refused to accept it at the post office...and mailman didn't even want to deliver it to me. They won the refund.

·4 months agoYou are a Habitat for Humanity organization?
Where does all your items come from. Typically Habitat for Humanity sells new and used building supplies that have been donated to them. The stuff you are selling does not look like this category of products.
Anyway, since Habitat for Humanity does not buy products and only acquires its items through no cost donations just give them a refund "if" you actually receive the item back. Don't take it personally as you are representing Habitat for Humanity.

·4 months agoAre you saying that you got no messaging from eBay on your issue? No messaging from the customer? Just out of the blue the customer was told by eBay to return the items of which eBay has to send them the postage sticker. Once eBay does that and upon arrival the refund will come out of your account. It sounds like you did not read your messages or ignored the buyer concerns.

·4 months agoMore details are needed for this question, Such as did they open an INAD or claim damage or anything else?, Also you can refuse the return but you will likely be out your money & your merchandise.

If buyer filed an INAD, you can refuse the package.
When it is returned to the buyer and tracking shows it was delivered, Ebay will refund the buyer from your account.
Refusing the package won't get you out of refunding.

".............without our agreement.............."
You must be under the impression that you run your own business on this site.
If not now, eventually you will understand there is NO "my own agreement".

·4 months agoEBAY 30-Day Money Back Guarantee (supersedes "no returns" policy) customers do not need your "permission to return items".
Whether you accept the returned package or not, EBAY will still force you to give them a refund. Isn't it better to get your item back so you can resell it?

·4 months agoIf it is being returned per ebay's 30 MBG policy, then ya, you want to accept it. Buyers never have to have sellers permission to return if they are following ebay's policy and filing the correct allowable return claim. There are situations where that cant file for a return, but without more info, this doesn't seem to be one of them

·4 months agoIt sounds like your buyer opened a return request for some reason. You are obligated to accept it and refund accordingly. If you don’t your buyer will be refunded by eBay from your funds, and you’ll also receive a defect for not handling your returns yourself.
But you do you and see what happens.

·4 months ago@dorchesterhabitat : The key question you need to clarify for us first is whether they filed a return request (Not As Described for some reason). If they did and the package is now on its way back to you then you do not gain anything by refusing the delivery. Tracking will show the attempted delivery to you (and/or your refusal) and the refund will be enforced anyway. You will also lose your Final Value Fee credit if Ebay has to refund instead of you doing it.
If they refused the package themselves at delivery time and the USPS is automatically returning it to you then technically you do not owe a refund but they can go to their credit card for a chargeback if you stonewall them. Please give us a bit more background on what has happened up to now.

·4 months agoSorry -- not enough details.
Why is the buyer sending a package back? Does that mean, they're refusing delivery? Opened a case? If so, what kind of case?

Having a no-refunds policy does not exempt you from having to refund a buyer if the item is not as advertised.

·4 months agoWhen you say they’re sending it back, what does that mean? Did they open a return request? Did they just refuse delivery? We need more details.
