Can a buyer leave feedback after they have received a full refund
Buyer purposefully lied and filed an INAD when they should have filed a remorse return. With the knowledge that this person has no problem misrepresenting the facts, I am concerned they will leave negative feedback in spite of the fact that I fully refunded them no questions asked, no argument and promptly.

·3 years agoThe protection for negative feedback would only happen if you offer free returns. I looked at your items and it does not appear you offer free returns. So the buyer can leave you a negative feedback and it would not be removed, even if you refunded them.

·3 years agoMy only issue with Kyle's post is he added requirement of reporting.
Maybe he's correct in all ways except a report isn't required ?

·3 years agoMaybe the reporting is what triggers it to Auto scrub otherwise you have to manually ask for it to be deleted (if you qualify)

·3 years agoI bank on there being some extra protections for TRS that aren't necessarily advertised.
Or perhaps listings that are TRS+ has some added protections that aren't listed.
As long as the seller accepts, provides label, and refunds on their own.

·3 years agoYes the buyer can leave negative feedback.
mam98031
·3 years agoWhy @janet9988 ? The buyer filed a dispute, the seller processed it and fully refunded the buyer. Why would the buyer then be able to leave negative FB.
As has been shown on this thread, there is some support for this in the policies, but it isn't completely clear so Kyle is trying to get us more information.

·3 years agoI used to always tell everyone that if they were a top-rated seller with free or buyer pays returns then they can get any negative feedback removed as long as a return request is opened and they handle it correctly. That could mean refunding either after they get the item back or before they get the item back. It also would apply if you sent the label but they did not mail it back in time. To me that is what the seller Protections page States and also what reps have told me over the phone.
Then pretty recently in this , long-time poster told me that it's not just top rated sellers that have this protection it's anyone who handles a return correctly. I wasn't sure if that was true or not. I think what I'm getting from this thread is that it is true as long as they are above standard and have free returns (basically they would be top rated if they sold more frequently).
Even more recently in another thread a bunch of people were saying that the buyer actually has to return the item for you to have the feedback protection (as opposed to you refunding right away or them never returning it even though you sent a label). Many people were agreeing on this but that is not how I interpret the Seller Protection rules written out and also not what I heard from reps over the phone.
Whether or not it is auto scrubbed or you have to reach out to get it deleted, I believe that anyone that is a top-rated seller with any type of returns enabled, or anyone that is above standard with free returns, can get a negative feedback removed as long as a return is opened and they handle it correctly.

·3 years agoIt seems like a simple question?
Can a buyer leave a "feedback" after they have received a full refund? Yes or No?
I don't see the answer.
I see all this blah blah blah as if.
robbie31415
·3 years agoThe answer is yes, that has been established.
What is following is just questioning triggers of auto scrub.

·3 years agoAssuming what you say is true and there was no argument and/or you actually did not misrepresent the item the buyer will most likely not leave a feedback. If you argued or attempted to blame the buyer then yes, a buyer can be upset and leave you a a negative. Returning an item is not a happy experience to deserve a positive feedback.
soh.maryl
·3 years agoYou state that the buyer "will most likely not leave a feedback".
What do you base that statement on.? Regardless of the positive outcome, the buyer had an experience that was less than positive. He had to open an INAD to resolve his issue, so I'd guess that this wasn't a positive experience for the buyer.
Personally, I would've left none at all, but then again, that decision is entirely up to the buyer.

·3 years ago@soh.maryl I will explain my statement to you since you always insist on an explanation. I based that statement on the scenario the OP gave us. The buyer "supposedly" started a remorse return. Assuming the OP did not argue with the return, did not get into a back and forth with the buyer about the return, and assuming the OP gave a refund without problems, the buyer will get their money and move on. You even agree you would not leave any negative when you filed for your return so it is entirely possible the OP is OK.

·3 years agoI "always insist on an explanation"? Thank you for pointing that out. You have been very helpful.
soh.maryl
·3 years agoAlso, what is the appropriate way to post if I don't understand something?
legalbeagle52
·3 years agoI like an "explanation" as well. Often it's not clear exactly what the OP or others are talking about, thus sending answers in all directions.

·3 years agoIt looks like you got an answer to your question. So I hope you didn't tell the buyer "Ok you got your refund, now go to..."
luckythewinner
·3 years agoI hope so, because I would hate to think that a non-performing seller could avoid bad feedback just because he didn't also steal the buyer's money.
mam98031
·3 years ago@luckythewinner
That is out of context and changes the question the OP was asking. The buyer filed an INAD according to the OP and the OP refunded the buyer. Those are two facts that are important to the discussion.
luckythewinner
·3 years agoThe OP asked "Can a buyer leave feedback after they have received a full refund"
eBay is not going to investigate whether the buyer's INAD was fraudulent or not, so the OP's statement applies to cases where there is seller fraud just as much as it applies to cases where there is buyer fraud.
So I stand by my statement that I hope eBay allows negative feedback despite a buyer being given a full refund. And my example might explain to the OP why I might be justified to feel that way.

·3 years agoI have been a TRS for many years on my 3 Ebay stores and I totally refunded a buyer who questioned the size. She left me negative feedback and I asked Ebay for help. They responded that it was okay because it was her opinion.
mam98031
·3 years ago@cashmeredelight
Ebay changes all the time and certainly the rules on feedback has changed over the years. What was true years ago are not necessarily true today. Heck sometime things that were true last week aren't true today as fast as things change around here. LOL ðŸ˜
ten_o_nine
·3 years agoThe answer is yes, they can leave you a negative even if you refunded, but most eBay buyers are decent people and won't do that.
mam98031
·3 years agoYou will be fine as long as you processed the return and voluntarily refunded the buyer. Meaning Ebay did not step in and force the refund.
@robbie31415
The seller protection is NOT just for TRS. You do NOT have to be TRS to have your FB protected when a case is resolved by the seller.
What are the guidelines?
Automatically removed
We automatically remove defects, adjust your late shipment rate, and remove feedback when:

·3 years agoWhen did the OP said a case was closed in his favor?
I think you are misunderstanding what you quoted.
mam98031
·3 years agoSo I don't misquote anyone. This is what the OP said and why it appeared to me that the seller had an INAD filed by the buyer and the seller refunded them.
"Buyer purposefully lied and filed an INAD when they should have filed a remorse return. robbie31415
·3 years agoWhat you put in pink doesn't apply when someone fully refunds.
It only applies when you contest and get it closed in seller favor, or appeal and get a seller favor decision.
That does not apply here. He voluntarily refunded. The TRS protection would come into play in this situation.
mam98031
·3 years ago@robbie31415
That's a good point.
Please provide a link to the policy that it is a TRS benefit.
robbie31415
·3 years agoYou have me there, I don't have one.
That part I am going based on anecdotal evidence.
The TRS page does mention feedback protections for false INAD. However ever since my newest account has made TRS, all negative feedback seems to get scrubbed automatically as long as they open a return and I refund.
The few that didn't open a return, have stuck, and I've had to work to get them removed.

mam98031
·3 years agoWell lets get this figure out so we can all know for sure. It is important and we should all have the answer.
@devon@ebay
@elizabeth@ebay
@kyle@ebay
When a buyer opens a Request for Return, the seller processes it, sends the buyer a prepaid return label, seller gets the item back and the seller refunds the buyer.
Is that seller's feedback protected from the buyer filing a negative or neutral feedback on their account or is this only a perk for TRS?
And could we have a link to the policy please.

·3 years ago@robbie31415
Did you possibly leave out a 'not' in your last sentence? That's the only issue I can see with your statement. 🙂
robbie31415
·3 years agoNo, the protection I was responding to was the general one that applies to basically all sellers when they win a case or appeal, so I'm saying that one didn't apply in this situation.
On the TRS page there is protections for feedback and I assumed the protection would come from that.
However, I might have been wrong, as there is also apparently protection from offering free returns.
It gets kinda confusing what triggered something to occur when there are multiple different policies and protections for something very similar.
robbie31415
·3 years agoI believe they can.
If you are a TRS it typically gets auto deleted.
I've had a few that showed up showing they left negative feedback, but never visibly showing in actual feedback. It just says they left it in seller hub.
