California Firearms Parts AB-1263 ebay refuses to address the issue.
Not sure what everyone is doing when the CA sale happens, we have had MANY and we cancel ALL of them.
ebay provides no means to comply with AB-1263
ebay provides no means to shut off sales to CA
ebay provides no means to apply a specific shipping policy to CA
IF YOU ARE SHIPPING FIREARM PARTS TO CA WITHOUT 100% COMPLIANCE
BOTH you AND the buyer have committed a crime.
ebay seems to be willfully "Aiding and Abetting" these crimes.

·7 months agoIt appears to me that this new California law is having the effect on Ebay sales which was expected. And that includes the problems it causes sellers in other states. As a California-based company, I would not expect Ebay to undermine the desired effects of the law.

·7 months agoThis new California AB 1263 and AB 1127 law is turning into a nightmare. No matter how many warnings I post I can't get potential buyers in California to stop bidding. I have to cancel yet another sale this morning. Ebay needs to step up and do something as sellers are losing hundreds of sales and Ebay is losing their percent of fees as well. Ebay needs to have an online method for the California buyer to post their valid ID and to sign the AB1263 acknowledgement form for seller to be able to ship to that buyer in California.
I put this warning first thing at the top of the description page:
"ATTENTION CALIFORNIA BUYERS! You MUST read warning at the end of description BEFORE YOU BID"
I put the following warning at the bottom of the description page:
"ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
NO SALE OF GUN PARTS TO CALIFORNIA unless you have it shipped to a FFL dealer. You must change the “SHIP TO†address to the FFL address BEFORE YOU BID.
I'm sorry but it's your new California gun law (AB 1263 and AB 1127) effective 1/1/2026. Get it shipped to where it's legal unless Ebay finds a solution for your shipping regulations."
Yet they either don't read it or just ignore it.

·8 months agoI've had to cancel several sales since this has started even though I post the following notice on every auction. I lost another sale tonight and the buyer had an attitude (You can just keep them) like it was my fault they have a new law. They just don't read it before they bid, and there's no solution to stop them from bidding. Plus is the amount of cancellations and refunds going to affect my seller rating when they are beyond our control.
I put this on every applicable auction.
ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

·8 months agoWhat sellers do is exactly what you did which is cancel the transaction and state "issue with buyers address." You have a legal reason to cancel. Until Ebay is told by state government otherwise they rely on you the seller who is an expert in this field in regards to guns and parts and the buyer to know the laws. Yes some buyers don't read the description. That's just the way it has been. Some buyers are very understanding yet so may not be. It's all part of the business dealing in your category where there are specific laws in place by state(s).

·8 months agoUPDATE: It looks like as of last night, eBay has blocked residents of CA from being able to complete checkout on Barrels. The buyer receives a message stating that the item isn't available for purchase "due to the restrictions"..... I have no idea if this block also applies to affected accessories.
I guess on the bright side, nobody has to worry any longer about needing to cancel CA sales, but as CA based vendor who is actually willing to jump through the legal hurdles needed to complete these sales their response is a bit frustrating. We would have preferred a change to the system that would have allowed for the exchange of documentation and the ability to collect the additional freight required to ship "adult signature - direct delivery"

·8 months agoeBay's usual response to a ban like this to just ban the affected items everywhere and the ban usually pulls in a whole lot of what should still be legal to sell items also because they lack the technical ability to sort it out.
A recent example is someone posted that they had a steering wheel for a 1968 VW taken down because it was a airbag? Of course 1968 was a good 20 + years before airbags

·8 months agoThey can still buy barrels as long as they are sent to an FFL. I can't even send a set of Pachmayr grips to California with this crazy new law.

·8 months agoA district court judge (can't think of his name right now) said to the effect "California gun laws seem to be designed to turn law abiding citizens into felons."

·8 months agoI agree, EBAY really dropped the ball on compliance with this new California law. You can contact EBAY on social media or at their corporate office EBAY Corporate 2025 Hamilton Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125. I would put RE: California Firearms Bill AB-1263 on the front of the envelope so you get their attention.

OP8 months agoWe have ebay concierge support and I have spoke with upper level reps that are aware of this but tell me ebay is doing nothing.
We just cancel the sale and send them a message stating that ebay is putting both buyer and seller at risk of prosecution if the item mistakenly gets shipped.

·8 months agoI would do as kibble-net advises. There was a judge (district, I'm not sure) that said something to the effect of "California gun laws seem designed to trick law abiding citizens into becoming felons".
A ten foot pole isn't long enough to stay away from that mess................................

·8 months agoYou can put a disclaimer in the listing: "This item cannot be shipped to CA addresses"
Then if someone from CA orders them, you cancel the sale with the reason being problem with buyer's address.
That is literally the problem - as you can't legally ship to their address.

OP8 months agoYou have WAY more faith in the average ebay user than we do.
We can't get them to fully understand the FIRST picture much less view additional pictures
Not to mention the average buyer has NO IDEA there is a description
Last time I messed with the ebay APP you had to really dig for a link to a description and the additional pics were not readily available either, this may have changed as I don't use the APP, just check into it periodically.
BUT YES,,, we cancel and choose address issue, that is what top level support told us to do and that they would remove any related feedback if it comes up
One buyer REALLY impressed me by stating he had no liability in the transaction (he most certainly does) that ONLY "I" did, he was dead wrong and I also passed that info on to CA DOJ, maybe they will correct him as I reported he was actively trying to "BYPASS" AB-1263, which he basically admitted to in ebay messages. The fact he was only concerned about getting the parts and did not care if I got in trouble (once again he admitted) really roasted me.
We're on on the CA DOJ list as an approved FFL to ship firearms into California, so the report was just a link on their website once you log in.

·7 months agoJust cancelled my 8th sale to California. The disclaimer doesn't do anything. The first thing in my description is
"ATTENTION CALIFORNIA BUYERS! You MUST read warning at the end of description BEFORE YOU BID."
At the end of my description is:
"ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
NO SALE OF GUN PARTS TO CALIFORNIA unless you have it shipped to a FFL dealer. You must change the “SHIP TO” address to the FFL address BEFORE YOU BID.
I'm sorry but it's your new California gun law (AB 1263 and AB 1127) effective 1/1/2026. Get it shipped to where it's legal unless Ebay finds a solution for your shipping regulations."
Yet they still just click on buy it now and never read any warning.
