Bypass New Garbage Listing Process?
Summary: sfq76 expressed frustration with a new app update affecting their listing process, seeking ways to bypass it. Suggestions included transferring photos to a PC for listing, utilizing AI workflows for listing prep, or using sellers' tools via the app. Some participants shared similar frustrations with the new AI tool and discussed potential workarounds. Others suggested adaptability to platform changes, although sfq76 emphasized the need for better service rather than passive acceptance.
Any way to bypass the new absolutely horrible listing process in the app? I generally draft in desktop, save the draft, add pics in the app, then finalize and publish in desktop. The new app completely breaks my process and railroads me through their drafting and pricing (which has always been really horrible). Any way to actually use the app the way I want to? Or am I just going to have to delete the app and go wholly to desktop?

·1 month agoI want it to go back also. It would show me how much the cost of shipping would be approximately now you can't see that anymore. It helps quite a bit with pricing the items. It is quite cumbersome and doesn't really save me any time.

·1 month ago · EditedIs there a new process for listing garbage? 😉

·1 month ago · EditedAccept > Adjust > Adapt. That's what long term and successful sellers do here in order to keep making money without getting bogged down in frustration.
ACCEPT: Accept the fact that change will always be happening on eBay. Some change is easy, some isn't.
ADJUST: Adjust your thinking and business model to flow with the changes.
ADAPT: Learn the new ways of doing things and get in sync with the changes.

OP1 month agoOr, we could insist that our service providers (ebay) provide better service. I get the 'just lay back and accept it' mentality, but I don't share it.

·1 month agoOP is looking for a workaround – isn’t that part of adjustment and adaptation? He’s not looking to replace a “business model.“ He’s just looking for a workaround to what he thinks is an annoying listing process.

·1 month ago · EditedI didn't recommend to replace a business model. I recommended to adjust it, implying where it would be necessary in order to get along with the changes that are always happening here. Adapting to eBay's constant changes is a whole lot easier than struggling to find "workarounds" that don't always work, are temporary, or don't exist.

I do not think it is possible to go back to the Simple Listing Tool once you have been migrated to the AI tool, but you may be able to use the Business Tool in the app by opting in using Seller Hub, or else bypass the AI listing tool by find an existing listing and use "Sell similar".
sfq76
OP1 month agoSadly the 'sell similar' trick no longer works through the app - it sends you through the AI listing tool steps and overwrites some content from an existing draft along the way. But I'll see if I can find the business tool you mentioned - can't be any worse than having to abandon the app altogether.

·1 month agoThis doesn't work. I've been an active seller here since 1999, opted in to Seller Hub years ago, and I too have been forced into the AI tool. And, its terrible. If anyone is having trouble adapting, its this tool. Every detail it auto feeds is wrong. Very frustrating...

·1 month agoCan you use the business tool by using a browser instead of the app?

·1 month agoWhat app are you using? I use the Android app and nothing has changed for me.
Could you maybe try starting a draft in the app with just the pictures and the title and then finish it with the desktop?
sfq76
OP1 month agoI'm using Android too - I think the rollout is just a staged migration so they'll eventually get to everyone.

·1 month agoIve been working around this by taking the product pictures on my phone, having them sync to my PC, then letting an AI workflow handle most of the listing prep from there. I just review everything before it gets published. Might be worth looking into if the app keeps messing up your process.

·1 month agoWhy not transfer the photos to your PC and do it all there?
adamcartwright
·1 month agoThat's what I do. Works great, and on a larger desktop screen I'm better able to assess the quality of my photos.
sfq76
OP1 month agoThat's what I'll have to do - it's just going to take long, be more annoying, and be less efficient. Good to know ebay doesn't care about seller's workflow though.
