BYE BYE EBAY
My buyer didn't gave her full address on her e-bay account so when I shipped her package it couldn't be deliver because HER mistake. I want to refunded her for her item but not the shipping, she refused. According to her she didn't make any mistake. Not only e-Bay refunded everything including the shipping but they charge me $20 for the dispute. I'm disgusting, I'm closing my account bye bye e-Bay.SELLER SINCE 2010 WITH 100% FEEDBACK

eBay does have seller protection for many chargeback scenarios. You do still have to respond to the chargeback. Despite other opinions, eBay policy does hold buyers (not sellers) responsible for providing a correct shipping address. I don't agree with all of eBays policies. I do follow all of eBays policies and have never had a chargeback that was not covered by eBay (chargebacks are also very infrequent for me).

OP2 years agoBecause she didn't give her street address to her e-bay account
soh.maryl
·2 years agoAnd when you shipped the item, the delivery address looked okay to you?
mybigsale
·2 years agoHmm... I've always been protected as long as there have been delivery attempts. Not sure what the final delivery scan is for a bad address, but I have always been protected by eBay if I shipped to the address provided (and it was a bad address).
With bad address, I don't believe eBay even forced me to refund. I refunded minus shipping and buyer repurchased with correct address (after item returned). No chargebacks were involved.
Also: When bad address items were lost and never returned, I have never been required to refund.

·2 years agoEbay can take care of it.
But I'm pretty sure it's not written into the policy for protections.
mybigsale
·2 years agoHmm... looks like it IS written into policy for protections to me:
eBay Money Back Guarantee:
The buyer provided an invalid or incorrect address at checkout Not covered.
Evidence of successful delivery:
A delivery status of "delivered" or "attempted delivery" (or equivalent in the country to which the item was delivered)

OP2 years agoUnfortunately, e-Bay did nothing and left me to fight alone for 6 weeks. E-Bay did the charges to my bank account without asking me. The buyer went to her bank for chargeback. Since few hours ego e-bay gave me back my money.

Since few hours ego e-bay gave me back my money.
Yeah!!! eBay must have read my response and realized they needed to correct this injustice!
My work here is done. 😎
Just joking... I WISH eBay listened to seller input. I am HAPPY eBay gave you your money back!

but if it makes you feel any better, I don't find you disgusting at all.

·2 years agoThe best way to handle this is to issue a refund with the shipping deduction. Sometimes the buyer will just accept it and move on because they understand they made a mistake. (Especially if you fairly refunded everything minus original shipping).
Some buyers will be annoyed by it because they want a full refund and will then go to their financial institution.
Even though RTS due to bad address voids eBay's MBG, it does not void the buyers protections from their financial institution.
For chargebacks financial institutions will issue full refund for any tracking that did NOT get delivered to their customers address. The reason doesn't matter.
So what you do is first right away issue a partial refund minus only the original shipping, and if they open a chargeback you don't dispute it, you accept it. Accepting it will refund the remainder and close the matter. If you accepted it then you wouldn't have been charged a $20 dispute fee and loss of credited eBay fees.

·1 year agoNot true at all. I have won item not received cases with proved delivery with tracking posted to the dispute. 🙄
Not as described disputes are something that is hard to win as a seller.

·2 years agoIt sounds like the buyer opened a chargeback, so you don't get the choice of a partial refund in that case. Per US Law, the buyer's payment institution decides the case, not eBay, so you're getting mad at the wrong party. Nevertheless, we can't and won't try to stop you from leaving if you choose to. Just know that no other platform would have had a different outcome in this case.

OP2 years agoWhen I complained to e-Bay about not having the full address on her account, they should have taken that into consideration and done something about it, refunded her and my shipping costs to me.

OP2 years agoAre you a buyer or a seller because I didn't see any items for sale on your account and feedback dating months ago.
soh.maryl
·2 years agoWhy would that matter? You won't see any FB left for me as a seller either. Maybe I have more than one eBay ID.
itsjustasprain
·2 years agoActually I am both. This is my buying account and I have another for selling. I use two accounts because some items I sell here were bought here originally.

·2 years agoI hope you got your item back.
Sounds like the buyer opened up a credit card chargeback. If you loose a dispute with a credit card you get charged $20. You can speak with Ebay customer service and try to get that $20 dispute fee refunded.
Most online selling platforms don't really protect sellers that well from credit card chargebacks so you will have the same risks wherever you choose to sell.

OP2 years agoI did it and they refunded me but still upset about e-Bay. they should have protected me better because they are just as at fault as the buyer. They gave me label with an incomplete address.
soh.maryl
·2 years agoThe address on the label that you used was exactly the delivery address for this buyer.
Furthermore, when the buyer paid, he/she saw the address. If it was wrong or incomplete, that was her opportunity to fix it.
So you were refunded? How could eBay have protected you better, exactly?
whatgirlswant2010
OP2 years agoThe package never arrived to her, because the address the gave was wrong. I bought the shipping label on e-Bay, it looks normal to me. The buyer did not take responsibility for her address mistake, she said someone had changed it, e-Bay or me. I later checked her account and the address was incorrect. I was not refunded my $15 shipping fee and had to pay a $20 dispute fee. That transaction cost me $35. E-Bay has since returned my money, but I don't like the stress. E-Bay could take responsibility, they gave me the label, I didn't make it. It is the buyer's responsibility to make sure the address is correct, not the seller's, so e-Bay could have refunded me.

You deserve to have been fined. That's not professional behavior. Not in the slightest.

·2 years agoIt seems the seller did want to make the buyer whole EXCEPT for the initial shipping, which the seller had to pay. I see nothing wrong with wanting to withhold that.
whatgirlswant2010
OP2 years agoThe buyer didn't give her full address so the package could NOT BE DELIVERED BECAUSE THE BUYER MISTAKE. WHY THE SELLER HAS TO PAY FOR THE BUYER MISTAKE???????????
