Buyers who pay your BIN price instead of sending an offer are way more likely to initiate refund.
Can anyone who sells 1000s of items with BIN/Best Offer confirm this observation?
I don't have enough data to support this, but the small amount of data I have suggests this statement to be true.

·3 years agoI don't do 'best offers' because I'm not a garage sale/swap meet. I only do 'buy it now- immediate payment required' because I'm a business doing business on a site.
My actual returns are about 1% per year.

·3 years agoThe only trend I have noticed relevant to the rate of returns is that the more questions a buyer asks before purchasing the higher the rate of returns and similar issues. Now I just end a listing when I suspect a problem buyer and relist later. I still get the odd return now and again, but that is just the nature of retail.

·3 years agoI use BIN almost exclusively. Out of nearly 1.5k sales, I have had exactly one return, and it was for a sealed-in-box item that actually was defective.

As far as returns, if I remove the return requests due to MY error (sent wrong item, error in description etc) my rate of returns is about 1 in 5000 sales.

·3 years agoWhat "Lamber" says is spot on. We have no problems with either BIN or Best Offers and have had 1 return in several years. Lamber's point about WHAT you sell is important, along with how well you describe your items, so there is no confusion about condition. BIN is just about the only way we list auctions now.

·3 years agoI use BIN on every single one of my listings, both fixed and auctions. My buyers typically just purchase full price on the spot. I rarely deal with returns believe my last return was in 2021, and I offer free returns no questions asked. Honestly, I believe it has more to do with what a person is selling vs the manner in which someone buys. I don't sell any electronics, mobile phones, car parts, or clothing- all top return items.
