BUYERS WHO DONT READ LISTINGS! NEED SYSTEM WHERE FEEDBACK IS REMOVED
I am so sick of buyers who don't read listings! I get questions from people where my response is, THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS IN THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THE LISTING. So I make them read it.
I had this listing. 257252276011 item number.
Here is the neutral feedback I recieved.
Was supposed to be perfum not cologne! Doesn’t smell the way white shoulders smells! 😡😡😡 I only use the perfum as I’m allergic to the other types !
VINTAGE EVYAN WHITE SHOULDERS COLOGNE TRAVEL PERFUME UNUSED .25 OZ #257252276011
This person states they only buy PERFUM. Which she is confusing with PARFUM. Here is the order of Perfume strenghts if you didn't know. From weakest to strongest.
COLOGNE
TOILETTE
PARFUM
PURE PARFUM
PURE PARFUM
Cologne is in my title, my item description, and item specifics. No where do I state this is Parfum. This smelled perfect!
I am SURE ebay won't remove this, they don't remove any feedback anymore.
Yes, I sent a revision, but she is so daffy, bet she won't even read it.
Yes I know neutrals don't affect anything, but still damage you.
I am SICK of ebay not doing anything to help sellers with unjust actions by others.
Oh and if you say something telling me YOU did not read this. I am going to MAKE FUN OF YOU. Telling me, YOUR as bad as her!

·5 months agoDescription "disclaimers" like that can go bad in two bad, opposite ways.
1. They can chase off buyers who don't like the aggression and you lose sales.
2. They invite buyers who themselves are aggressive and know that they CAN return it and you lose shipping $.

Then he messages:
This will fit a 2002, correct?
It's NOT the 'reading' that is the issue.
It's the inability to comprehend what they are reading.

·5 months agoI think most of the problem with buyers not reading listings is that in order to even find the written description, the buyer has to navigate past a long area of eBay ads for competing products. I think many buyers just start scrolling, they see a bunch of stuff they're not interested in, and either assume there is nothing more or decide trying to find it is not worth the bother.

·5 months agoYes, that has been a flaw with eBay for some time now. While you (the seller) are trying to advertise your own product for sale in "your own listing", they (eBay) in all their wisdom places other advertisements in between your own. That is pretty messed up if you ask me. The other advertisements from other sellers should be placed last and a buyer can make the decision from there with what to do or where to go next.

·5 months agoThat's a pretty dizzy neut and would just make me, as a buyer, roll my eyes (all of my neuts are equally silly, with one making me lol). Forget it.
But for the sake of professionalism, clean up your descriptions! 😬 I don't think they're going to prevent problems, just annoy people who do read them.

That's a excellent idea!
If ebay can come up with a system where if the buyer does not read the listing, the seller can have their feedback removed.
I hope ebay reads this and gets to work on that right away.

·5 months agoNot to burst your bubble but you have both cologne & perfume in the title & that could be very confusing & since you are so well versed in the strength of these products you should have chosen one over the other & not both, All that being said it is just a neutral & won't really affect anything, So just forget it & move on.

·5 months agoI wouldn't worry too much about it. It's a neutral. Just respond to the feedback politely that your side and move on. Yes you will get buyers who don't read or will not respond to requests. That's part of business. You will always have someone who is not happy and will leave bad feedback instead of working it out. The feedback will not hurt your sales.

·5 months agoParfum most buyers won't know the difference. All you can do is your best to describe the item. We get the wally mart shoppers. They buy now and return later. Just add a bit to all your prices to cover such expense.

Her feedback makes no sense and really doesn't affect your rating...and don't respond to her feedback.
As a guy, I know not the difference between cologne or perfume...I think...I thought cologne men use and perfume women use...too many words to ponder about.

OP5 months agoThank you, and it is difficult to learn the whole termanology. But in reality all of it is perfume. But in the USA they may call mens perfume cologne. Only because here they decided it wasnt manly enough to say Perfume. So they get you guys selling you the weakest scent Cologne and charging you the most as if it was Parfum.
So when looking for perfume for yourself, look for men's parfum, it will last the longest and you need to use less. Overseas they call it all Perfume. But people who know, know that Perfume is a broad term for all scents.

Don't post when you have no clue as to what you are talking about.
Why do you think the whole CATEGORY is called PERFUME. Shocker!

·5 months agoIt'd be best if you took a little while to calm yourself and stop seeing every comment as an attack. Simplifying your listings to help buyers not be confused, even if technically what you put in there is accurate, is an important tool for a seller who is trying to sell their items. Just because the buyer was in the wrong doesn't mean you can't improve your listings to help avoid it in the future.

OP5 months agoSimplfy? So stating Cologne in title, description, and specifics didn't clue that ditz that it was COLOGNE? You decide to act like I am looking for advice how to do my listings? I won't change a thing. I rarely ever have issues, my listings are perfection.
Tell me why the category is called PERFUME.

Also a bunch of that junk you have in your listing doesn't mean diddly. If a buyer opens an INAD case you will be paying for the return.

·5 months agoI'm happy to hear your listings are perfection. This nit wit knows hers aren't and is always trying to learn and improve.
I know more than some about some items, but definitely understand that different people have different levels of knowledge on any particular subject.
Obviously I know little about the different terms used for the category under "fragrances". So I briefly went down the rabbit hole of google search. I learned some things, but repeatedly found that "parfum" is the French word and "perfume" the English word. I looked for a source that stated perfume is the word used for all fragrances, but didn't seem to find that.
My takeaway was the terms are often confusing and not used the same way universally around the world.
Just wondering where our resident "be nice" poster is and are they good with this thread?

^^^ Not seeing "perfection" with this caveat. You're expecting buyers to open their packages at the PO with an Inspector present? Oh, and you misspelled 'their'... so when you revise it, revise 'mind' to plural ('minds') so that they match. 😑

Perfume is a common name for the category, in a retail listing, 'Cologne' and 'Perfume' (Parfum) are technical grades for the concentration of fragrance oil.
Listing both in one title is contradictory because they represent different product strengths and price points. The fact that a buyer already left negative feedback for this exact reason proves that the distinction matters to your customers, even if you personally disagree. There's no need for the hostility toward people simply trying to help you avoid further account issues.

·5 months agoIn fairness to your buyer, you do have both "Cologne" and "Perfume" in your title. Also, your description is basically a wall of painful-to-read text, most of which is in all caps. If your buyer is using the app, there's no way they read that. So, frankly, I'd be grateful that it was just a neutral and not a neg.
It may be time to reconsider how you title your items and shorten your descriptions so that everyone can comfortably read them. It's not your place to "make" buyers read your descriptions. It's your job to make sure that between your pics, titles, and descriptions, it's abundantly clear you're selling.
Your obvious hostility seems a bit unwarranted.

·5 months agoI’m a rideshare driver. I once got a negative feedback for “poor road conditions”, like I have any control over that, lol. Some people just don’t have a brain when it comes to leaving feedback, no matter what platform they’re on.

OP5 months agoWell thats just **bleep**. Same as we have control over USPS. Gotta love those people. I really think that we all need to get together and force ebays hand for more protection on Feedback though! It's not just their OPINION when they are wrong!

·5 months agoTry to estimate the intelligence of the average shopper.
Half of shoppers are less intelligent than that.
Selling online is a numbers game. This means that the more that you sell, the more likely you're going to encounter a buyer who either lacks the ability to read, or simply refuses to read because they think reading is "woke" or something.
My best advice to you is to move on with your day and move on with your life. This doesn't deserve the attention you're giving it. Yes many buyers lack intelligence. Thankfully YOU can be better than them.

I am really mad about the fact that we can't get ebay to just automatically remove something like this.
That is my whole point, that we have zero protection from people who don't read.
I totally agree that half these people now don't know how to read, or count change! Its insane!

·5 months agoNot only would it be best not to bother with a feedback revision request (unless you've already discussed it with the buyer and they've agreed to revise it), since you have a limited number of those, but as you said, it's a neutral, and most people would never even see it for it to "damage you".

OP5 months agoI forgot to mention she leaves lots of NEGS and NEUTRALS for shipping time. Item sizes and such. She obviously thinks we have control over USPS, and doesn't read item size as well.
