Buyers able to get around blocked countries and still able to buy.
Hi
I have read several posts in the past where sellers have issues with buyers being able to buy their items despite the ship to address being on their blocked buyer list with eBay. But there seems not to be many current answers.
We are having this issue now, we have many countries blocked, and these countries are to be blocked from even contacting us.
However in the last 6 months they seem to now be able to get around the blocking customers who "Have a primary shipping address in a location I don't ship to" list. Of course, when we do send it, they always claim to not have gotten the item(s), which is why we blocked the countries in the first place.
Would this indicate a buyer has circumvented the blocked country list, by creating a fake/alternate primary address, while stating a blocked country address as the ship to location? Is eBay aware of this?
Most of all is there some action we can take that would allow us to cancel the order and not lose our final value fee?
Thanks so much for any advice and information.

·1 year agoNearly 4 years later, I just had this happen to me as well.
Spent nearly a full hour in chat support with eBay, tediously pressing them through the "yes, this is set correctly", "here is a screenshot", etc... and they said they must have some technical issue that led to it. I suspect that, despite "opting-out" of the eBay forced "manage your excluded locations" push, I still got half-hooped into it, now with invisibly broken settings that allowed buyers to buy my item with eIS, despite explicitly being on the list.
If my item were legitimately illegal to sell in a certain country, eBay would be in a world of hurt. Instead, my issue is just that of eIS being unreliable and too closely related to the seller... eBay does not do a good job of "proxying" these international shipments and the buyer still contacts me for shipping updates (which are extremely common due to international buyers somehow not knowing how to format their address, or just that it takes a really long time to get there). I only have the patience to deal with domestic shipments, and the fault rate for internationals is too high to deal with.
I'm perfectly OK shipping to proxy services, because the buyer knows where the package is, and where the issue lies. Not the same for eIS. It's really, really bad that eBay is pushing this broken system so hard that they're inadvertently forcing it on sellers through bugs like this.

·1 year agoI have no issue with it.
I've had a few that the shipper had to cancel the sale because unable to forward.
I kept the money for all sales and eBay bought themselves a few items.
There is nothing illegal on your part as long as you can legally ship to Illinois.
