Buyer wants to pay for mistaken shopment
A buyer bought four sealed box items and I mistakenly sent him 1 open box. I have since mailed him the four open box items. He just emailed to say he will buy the 1 open box item. How do I do this? Should I list the item have him pay and then just mark it shipped? How do I stop others from purchasing the item before his is able to?

How do I stop others from purchasing the item before his is able to?
Close the current listing. It will go to your Unsold List for 90 days, lots of time for the unwanted four to be returned.
Send him a Return Shipping Label for the unwanted four.
Relist the CORRECTED items when you get them back.
Refund payment for the four he returned and thank your stars that you got off so easily.
In fact, it sounds as if he is willing to pay for one opened item, so your shipping cost may be covered?

·1 year agoList it with Local Pickup Only @mdnowva - chances are nobody else will buy it, but if you're worried you can put a high price on it with "best offer" and accept the offer only from your buyer. Because it's local pickup, you don't have to worry about shipping.

And usually it's the seller who 'eats' the mistake.
'bought four sealed box items'..since mailed him the four open box items'...'will buy the 1 open box item.
Don't understand what really happened.
If I make a mistake I lose the money on the sale...if I owe the buyer money I refund them...
Doing something out of the ordinary on Ebay might get one 'a red flag'.

·1 year agoThis is your problem, if you list it (and you already shipped it to that buyer), you can't stop someone else from buying it and expecting the item, which you no longer have.
The easiest way is through Paypal (or some other similar source). I think after you've done the sale you can send an email address, but I'm not up to date on all the current things that can and can't happen through message on eBay's site.
I've been putting a business card in my packages with the eBay store URL, eBay ID, and email address, so that if it's due to a package arriving after a refund, they have the ability if they choose to paypal me the money.
