Buyer Trying To Sell Item Marked For Parts
Summary: level_up_trading sold a printer listed as 'for parts or not working' and is facing a return request from a buyer who claims it doesn't work. They are unsure how to contact eBay about the issue. inhawaii suggests contacting the buyer directly to clarify that the printer was sold as non-working. vintage-camerastuff advises reiterating that no returns are accepted. dhbookds points out the potential confusion due to the way the printer's condition was described. bdmh-enterprises outlines the options available if the buyer files a 'not as described' return request and discusses how to handle potential return abuse.
I recently sold a printer that was marked as for parts or not working. Now the buyer is saying they want a return because the item doesn't work. I can't figure out how to get in contact with eBay about this.

·1 week agoIf the buyer files a 'not as described' return request within the 3 day period, you have 3 options:
1: Accept the return, get your item back and refund the buyer, eBay refunds your fees.
2: Refund the buyer and let them keep the item, eBay refunds your fees.
3: Get in contact with eBay, buyer keeps item, gets refund, eBay keeps your fees.
After one of the above is completed, then you report the buyer for return abuse, block them and if you're inclined to go through the headache, contact eBay and try and get a "courtesy" refund on your shipping.

·1 week agoI would agree.......with the parts not working, but you have an unclear description:
This printer has always worked for me. I recently sold it and the buyer returned it claiming it was stuck on a paper jam error. I could not recreate the error and I have never seen this error before or since. As far as I can tell, this printer seems to be in working order. But I am selling it AS IS, since I cannot completely rule out an issue.

OP1 week agoYes this was the case. I wasn't attempting to be misleading, that's why I marked it as is. But I thought the original buyer was a scammer based on how they were acting. The new buyer was an ink supplier so I just assumed they wanted the full ink cartridges that are worth more than I sold the printer for anyway

·1 week agoThe item was sold for parts and not working. You don't accept returns. You don't need ebay for that. Email the customer "this printer was sold for parts and not working. We don't accept returns" Thank you and have a great day. End of story.
