Buyer threating to return because of snow delay
Not sure how to handle this one, buyers in Maine, and because of the blizzard its arriving late. Say's its a Bday present and if not received by tomorrow, he will return it because he's not giving a picture for a present. He did open a INR case and I have until March 4th, pretty sure it'll get there by then. I get it he's not happy, but you don't buy a present online 2 days before a blizzard hits and expect it to arrive on time. Can he actually request a return because it did not arrive on time, ebay say's were covered because of the blizzard but what about a return because of it. Just curious of others thought on the matter and I know ebay won't care

OP6 months agoYou would think but its my fault it snowed and his buddy's bday present will be late. Just that 1% we have to deal with. lol

·6 months agoDon't respond to this buyer directly. Just respond to the INR with the tracking number. Also, you may want to contact ebay outside of the request (either via a callback or through social media channels) and point out that it is delayed due to winter weather.

·6 months agoYour customer is being a total jerk. They are in Maine and should expect delays due to bad weather.
However, EBAY does not protect you against "item not received" claims because of bad weather.
EBAY 30-Day Money Back Guarantee (supersedes NO REFUND policy) and allows customer to get a refund by claiming "did not receive item, not as described, counterfeit, defective, missing parts. EBAY will force you to refund (purchase price + shipping BOTH ways).
Because you customer opened "did not receive item" claim (you must provide EBAY with tracking# before EBAY deadline). You must give refund customer (purchase price + shipping) if item does not arrive before Ebay deadline.
EBAY has a "new policy" that protects the Seller. If package arrives within 30 days AFTER the deadline, EBAY will refund money to you. However, if refused to give the customer a refund and EBAY had to "step in" (they will not protect you and you will get zero reimbursement).

·6 months agoI agree with most of this, but there was a seller recently where ebay refunded them on an INR where the item showed delivered after ebay had stepped in to refund the buyer. I think he got the not resolved case defect removed too, but I'd have to go back to check that part. I still would not take the chance, though. I would voluntarily refund before the deadline. I'd rather not depend on ebay removing that defect for me.

OP6 months agoTrying to find the policy but does that cover just the item or shipping too?

·6 months agoIf you shipped on time, refund now thru the INR. When it gets delivered, ebay refunds you and you don't have to worry about a return.
