Buyer thought he was buying a newer/different version of the item, might want a INAD return
Hi everyone,
I only sell here occasionally and this is the first time something like this happened to me so I'm not sure how to proceed.
I sold this item: https://www.ebay.com/itm/375118822294
With the title: Fanatec CSL Elite Pedals w/ Load Cell Kit
Couple days after the delivery buyer opened a Item Not As Described return and send me a message saying it's missing some components and doesn't look like the one in this link: https://fanatec.com/us-en/pedals/csl-elite-pedals-v2
I replied back saying that's CSL Elite Pedals V2 and what he has as stated in title (you can also see on the box in the pictures) is the previous version pedals which is called CSL Elite Pedals and the separate add-on Load Cell Kit. Something completely different from what he sent. I also sent him the links for the items and the manual for it.

https://fanatec.com/eu-en/csl-elite-pedals-loadcell-kit

Anyway he set it up using the links and send me a picture of it asking if it looks good. I told him yes. He said thanks for your help and that was the last time I heard from him. This was two days ago.
However, as I'm writing this the return case is still open. I will reach out to him today to ask what he wants to do. I'm hopeful he'll want to keep the item and this will be resolved. But if it doesn't how should I proceed?
The item was sold as No returns but from what I understand since it's INAD, other than accepting the return I have two options: Ask Ebay to step in or Report the seller.
Are any options worth it? I read Ebay always sides with buyers. Do you think I have a case here?
It's just so frustrating because item is as described and if I accept this return and pay for the return shipping and sell it again I will barely make any money from it.
Thanks everyone for your help.

If the buyer won't close the case, do not let your timelines expire, for that may result in a refund to the buyer from your proceeds, and allow them to keep the product as well.. You can accept the return, and issue a label. If the buyer doesn't use it, you will not be charged for the return shipping. If they don't return it, he case will eventually close, and your funds should be released to you.

Actually when he set it up I suspect he "substantially changed" it and you may not be required to pay for a return.
Contact eBay
AVOID THE PHONES
The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.
Accountability.
Have the Claim number on hand.
I'd accept the return if he pays for the return.
Remember he can also Claim through Paypal and through his credit card.

·2 years agoA No Returns policy is not a No Refunds policy.
EBay will interpret it as "I never want to see this again" and refund the unhappy buyer.
"I regret that you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return it for refund."
And let him figure it out from there.
Don't poke the bear.

·2 years agoSorry, I have to respectfully disagree with you.
That is not how ebay interprets a no returns policy.
I have a no returns policy and i ALWAYS get my items back.

·2 years agoRight now, accept the return and provide a shipping label, then leave it up to the buyer.
If they are happy with the item, they won't return it and the case will close automatically.

He is happy with item since you help him fix it and might be assuming "no returns" means he can keep the item and still get a refund because claim is still open and you haven't responded to it.
He might not return it because it is fixed...and not using the return label you won't get charged.
It sounds like a "truth or dare"...I met he doesn't return it.

·2 years agoa) You can ask the buyer to close the return case. If they close it, you will get a message from eBay.
"This return was closed on Jan 6 because the buyer closed the return."
b) If the return package does not get a scan in 19+ calendar days, you will get a message from eBay.
"We've closed your buyer's return because we have no record that they shipped the item back to you."
The item was sold as No returns. You have two options.
1) Issue a return label to get the merchandise back.
2) Don't issue a return label and the buyer gets a refund and keeps the merchandise.
Ask Ebay to step in or Report the seller. The return process is automated. Contacting eBay usually does not turn the case around in the seller's favor.
