Buyer scammed me and told eBay he didn’t not receive the item then posted pics of the item on his IG
Buyer placed an order on the site for a pair of rare pair of horse hair boots. Then tricked eBay into refunding the money to him by claiming that he did not receive this order when there was a valid tracking number included in the order.
A week later after he gets his money back from me, He posted pictures of him wearing the boots onto his social media account, therefore he did receive them and was lying to us the whole time.

·3 years agoListen to what the others posted. Now, if you saw him wearing these boots on social media, why don't you go there and ask him directly if he can pay for his boots that he STOLE from you. Remind him too that he needs to report those stolen boots to the IRS since he "earned" income by stealing them. WHo knows, he might grow a conscience and repay you.
In the future, don't sell anything pricey here.

·3 years agoAs mentioned, did you enter the tracking # into the case? Also, did you ship with signature required upon delivery? Anything over $750.00 would require that.

OP has gone silent. I suspect if they have read the replies they have realized they made an error that allowed the scammer to get by with the scam. Will not be the last seller to get targeted and new sellers are ideal especially when they are listing expensive items. What ever happened to eBay limiting new sellers until they have some experience.

OP3 years agoNo I did not ship with signature confirmation as I was not aware of the policy that an order of 2,000 dollars would require it
However I did have a valid tracking number that even says delivered and found evidence that he did receive the shoes on his instagram t

·3 years agoYou should have inserted the tracking number as soon as you saw he filed a request. Did the item show delivered ?

·3 years agoThen that's why you lost. As far as ebay is concerned if the item is over $750 and you don't have signature it's not considered delivered. When the buyer saw no sig required he knew he'd win an INR.
You can however file a complaint with the US Postal Inspectors for fraud using the postal system. Might make him think about either returning the boots or paying up.
In fact you could always message him that's what you're doing.

·3 years agoNew sellers reading this take heed.
New or inexperienced sellers should not be selling $2,000 designer duds, otherwise known as theft magnets. Scammers buy and hope you forget to get signature delivery, and then claim they didn't get it or, or they claim it didn't match just hoping you won't respond with a return label and they get a free item.

How did the buyer "trick" Ebay into getting a refund?
Did they open an "Item Not Received" dispute? If so, did you upload the tracking number to the dispute showing delivered?
How do you know they posted photos of the boots to Instagram?
justili-45
OP3 years agoYes they opened a dispute as an item not received. Then I posted the tracking number with the updated delivery status but they sided with him anyways

OP3 years agoI found his instagram by searching his name he gave me on the address. Then checked it every once in a while just in case I wasn’t being lied to. And then I found he posted the shoes a week later

can you elaborate on this statement? Valid Tracking trumps an INR almost everytime.....

OP3 years agoHe filed a dispute for an item not received but I have a valid tracking number that I posted onto it and says delivered on the UPS tracking page.

·3 years agoNot a lot of details as to how the buyer "tricked eBay" into refunding him. Did the buyer open an INR case with eBay and how did you respond to the case? If the buyer used another method to "trick eBay" can you provide some details?

·3 years agoDon't understand why you would not have posted the tracking # and information to any non-receipt claim from the buyer.

·3 years agoYou can contact eBay, but don't hold your breath. While it's likely you're correct, there's no actual proof they aren't a different pair and eBay is unlikely to side with you, but stranger things have happened!
I'd contact them through social media if I were you. https://facebook.com/ebayforbusiness is the link I use.

·3 years agoAs far as I can see, buyer was not claiming NAD (different boots), but an INR, meaning no receipt at all. So would not the seller posting tracking information dispute their claim?
