Buyer returns faucet, says color won't work, send back his old, used unit.
I had a buyer with over 300 feed backs just yesterday return a brand new faucet. He claimed it didn't match his kitchen and that he didn't use it. Funny, you could clearly see the color in the photos. When I got it back I noticed water coming out of it. Upon further inspection, it had lime and calcium build up from years of use on the spout and several scratches. It was also an older model as you could tell by the spout pattern.
Thanks to eBay policies, I was able to withhold a whopping half of the money (sarcasm intended) from the purchase price alone and lost the shipping one way due to free returns. The faucet parts he didn't steal are basically worthless. He got a great deal on what was an already low price. Thanks eBay.

·3 years agoIf the buyer that sent back a used item also sells, just bide your time. Think about it, you can figure out a way to be made whole. As long as you are comfortable lowering yourself to their level.

·3 years agoIt's in case you also need to replace his old faucet unless it had an issue. And it's why they always advise to never buy with your selling ID.

·3 years agoIts hard to explain to you on an open forum how to get even with the faucet crook, without the mods giving me a time out.
Think about it. The faucet thief also sells on eBay. Think about what they did to you, and how they did it. Imagine how much fun it would be to "return" that used faucet they "returned" to you.

I guess that's ebay "standard procedure" when a buyer returns an item not in original condition and the seller withholds 50%. If the buyer contests and the seller contests, looks like ebay refunds the buyer out of pocket.

OP3 years agoIn addition, he had 32 feed backs as a seller. I suggested he open a claim. His response was he'd do it in a few days. Why you ask? Because he knew that if a seller does not refund a buyer for a return by the deadline, eBay will refund the entire amount. That means he's pulled that scam before otherwise how else would he know to do that.

You can report him for misuse of MBG? Enough reports of this and he might loose this option.

OP3 years agoHe has already been reporting and just opened a case wanting a full refund claiming he sent back the original item. I'll probably have to appeal.

OP3 years agoThey closed the case in 15 minutes with the usual **bleep** I win but (still lost half the item price) and they refunded the scammer the amount out of their pocket. That way they never learn and have no incentive to stop. Thanks.

·3 years agoDon’t forget, out of eBay’s pocket indirectly means eventually out of sellers’ pockets. Where do you think ebay gets the money for that? Why do you think ebay needs to raise fees on us? For frivolous stuff like this. That’s why I hate it when a rep tells me “Don’t worry, it’s out of ebays pocket. You don’t have to pay for it.â€

Bit confused. If you won the case and eBay refunded the scammer out of their pocket how did you loose half of the item price?

OP3 years agoThey closed in less than 15 minutes. Knew buyer was lying but it never matters. The buyer is never penalized.
