Buyer returned as INAD, and im missing a cable

so the buyer returned as INAD even though everything shipped as shown in photos or the description, i did receive everything except for an hdmi cable. previously i had the option to partially refund the buyer but now thats just gone, and i cant contact ebay support since its just preprogrammed responses/AI.

What to do if an item is returned used or damaged

Did you contact the buyer and politely tell them it was missing and ask them to send it to you?

The buyer already used the return label to return the item so chances of him spending money out of his pocket for postage and take the time to return the cable (if he forgot to put it in the box) are probably small. Also, as stated in a post above, an HDMI cable only costs about four dollars so it might be just as easy for OP to buy a new one because postage will be in that range anyway.

That doesn't mean the buyer won't help the seller by sending it back. They made the mistake. They may not want to do it, but no one knows unless they are asked.

We don't know why the buyer returned the item (it the post said, I missed it) but if he returned the item because he was unhappy about something, I really have my doubts that he is going to expend any energy to help the seller, whether he (the buyer) accidentally (or on purpose) left the cable out of the package or not. But as you say, @electri9523 won't know unless he asks.

Do whatever it is you desire to do, if you find yourself in this position. It was a suggestion and it doesn't hurt a thing to ask.
