I currently have a similar problem ... only that it is a Seller in my case who appears to be less than honest and not the buyer.
Bought a pair of allegedly "Antique" Salts made of cut glass ... only to find, on receiving them they were pressed glass with seams and not as described; one wasn't even standing straight.
When I contacted the seller, he became a Drama Queen and started ranted on that they were as described, were perfect and must be on am uneven table (despite the fact I used a spirit level to prove how wrong he was), and to point out the difference between pressed and cut glass!
He became abusive and used all sorts of underhand tricks so he would not have to make a refund … and even said I was banned buying or bidding on his goods. Hooray; I have no intention of buying from a Seller from Hell. How the guilty try it on. He even suggested to eBay I should be suspended, when I have only had 100% feedback as a good buyer since 2008. It appears to me, it is the seller in my case who ought to be suspended for trying to hoodwink eBay and defraud me.
After reporting it to eBay, a returns label was provided, but the Seller gets even more deceitful. His latest plot has been to say that he received an empty box ... no doubt in order to try and not make a refund? As the Post Office weigh parcels, it would more or less correspond with the parcel weight he originally sent me, and would be much lighter if I returned an empty box, wouldn’t it?
It appears to me the sort of poor quality Seller in my case is someone eBay doesn't need to scam honest buyers?
I hope eBay refunds me otherwise I will have to ask my bank to process a charge-back against a less than honest Seller in my case.
