buyer posted political message in feedback
The buyer sent a positive+ feedback, however it contained a political message., violating ebay policies..Trying to get that removed, but ebay is not allowing me to request a callback from an agent, which I usually am allowed to do, and a revision request is only possible if it was a negative- rating. I want the message removed immediately. I messaged the buyer and ebay.

The feedback is of no consequence. I would leave it and save contacting the social media reps for something important.
No one is ever gonna see that feedback or give a hoot if they do.

I would not have messaged Buyer because I would value maintaining goodwill and the possibility of repeat business more than I would value the removal of a slogan that's a reflection on Buyer only, not on you. But that's just me.

·1 year agoThe real question here, to my mind, is why would any seller want to alienate a happy buyer, and potentially over half the country/world? We all sell to people that we probably wouldn't want anything to do with in real life, but that's just a part of doing business. I can't fathom why any legitimate business person would to want risk damaging their own livelihood over some perceived political difference. The buyer's comment is a sentiment shared by over half the country right now.
How many more Bud Light's or Harley Davidson's do people need to see before realizing that, as a seller of any size, it's best to keep your politics to yourself and learn to tolerate political differences of opinion in your customers? They don't owe you their business, but you do owe them your gratitude.

Well, technically 49.8% of the people who voted, and I'm not sure where you came up with "potentially over half the world," but let's not trouble ourselves with facts.

·1 year agoActually, I don't care about the numbers. "MAGA" won, and that means a whole lotta people agreed with the sentiment, even if you (or I) don't.
The bottom line is this, If I see a seller expressing hostility to a buyer for any reason, I will not be buying from that seller. As a seller, I cannot fathom a scenario in which I would need to air my political beliefs, either for or against, any particular ideology. It's unprofessional and downright ridiculous to think that my personal belief about anything in the world is so important that I need to put a customer in his or her place about his or her beliefs.

BTW, neutrals do not affect your ratings, so no worries about that.

·1 year agoI'll venture a guess that a MAGA voter wouldn't want to check their feedback and see a comment like, "Workers of the world, unite!"
You allow stuff like that from any political side, and where does it end? Feedback is to rate the transaction, not for broadcasting that you wear a silly red hat or have read Marx.

·1 year agoI agree with all of the above but I am putting this in the Choose Your Battles category.
You can certainly try quietly to have Ebay remove it. What I would NOT do is make a public fuss about it in a feedback reply because then you are making YOUR politics known - which is simply bad business for a forum in which politics are not relevant. We are here to sell stuff and alienating potential buyers is not good for business.

Since such a big deal was made out of it, I scrolled down and read it. I found it to be innocuous in the great scheme of the important things to be concerned about at eBay. Your response to that FB actually brought more unnecessary attention to it than the FB itself, IMO.
It's not necessary to be pole vaulting over mouse droppings. Get over it and get on with your life and your sales.

And agree....It's positive feedback, doesn't hurt the FR rating, and it isn't worth calling attention to it.

·1 year agoMaking statements that, frankly, anyone can make, and having a set of initials that codifies an entire lifestyle and governmental system is not even close to an equation.
ETA: I'd still let it go, though - actually, I gotta laugh - maybe I'll add "Frodo Lives!" to my feedbacks.

·1 year agoI would not sweat this. It is not a reflection on you. And in the grand scheme of things, it is inconsequential—a little blurb in a sea of voices will not be heard.
But if you go ahead, quote the policy verbatim to the rep, see it in the link below. With these new feedback guidelines, it clearly states political opinions and content is removable, altho i am not aware of eBay ever considering removal for a positive rating. If you haven't read it already, the feedback policy below gives info on the best way to approach removal. Good luck!

·1 year agoYou are a relatively high volume seller. 2 weeks from now that feedback will be below the fold and no one will ever read it again. Seems like a waste of time to pursue removal.

·1 year agoYou might try contacting them through facebook. The verbiage should be removable. One good thing, unless others sort your feedback as most recent, it is buried deep in your feedbacks--I scrolled through 5 pages before it showed up when sorted as most relevant.
I don't think eBay will bother with removing the feedback unless it is neutral or negative.
MAGA = make america great again is political to you? It's just a slogan IMO

·1 year agoThat sounds so innocent by itself, but unfortunately, one can't escape what it represents today when clearly spelled out as MAGA. I would not want that anywhere near me or my account in any way shape or form.

·1 year agoUnfortunately, a lot of seemingly innocuous slogans and symbols have been political. There are patriotic citizens who won't even fly an American flag any more because of political statement many infer from it.
