Buyer opened chargeback to return item
Buyer opened a payment dispute / chargeback (not eBay return) for an appliance part they purchased. The reason in the dispute is "The item doesn't match the description in your listing". Then they sent me a message stating they want to return the part because they purchased the wrong part. I assume they can't open a return request through eBay now that they opened the chargeback? It seems like the only way I can resolve this is to refund the buyer through the chargeback, since I have to respond by a certain time, then trust that they will send back the item? From their messages I don't think this is some kind of "scam", but that the buyer doesn't understand how to return something through eBay.

·2 years agoNo, once they go to their payment source, there's nothing they can do through Ebay.
If they are willing to return it, I'd refund, then buy a shipping label and send it to them, then hope they use it.

·2 years agoIt's rare that they are required to return the item when it's a payment chargeback...unfortunately.
