Buyer Mixed me up with Another Seller
I sold a Lincoln owners manual to a guy in august. 2 days before it arrived he opened a return saying I sent him the wrong manual. He included a picture of a Toyota manual and the shipping label next to it. It was from Las Vegas. I am a long way from that city. He received the manual I sent him two days later. I contacted him twice. No response. I reported him to Ebay. I was forced to refund him for a book he received. Ebay was threatening to suspend my account even though I let them know what was going on. I know I will never know the outcome of the report. But is ebay really going to let this buyer scam me like this?

·11 months agoWhat a mess. If my email to the buyer didn't resolve the mixup, I would have accepted the return & authorized the return label. That leaves it in their court to figure out what they did or at least return something before I have to return. Best case---they close or don't return anything and I can keep my money.

OP11 months agoI was forced to under threat of suspension. All of this happened before I refunded. I contacted the buyer and got no response. Sorry, but you evidently didn't read my post thoroughly. I said specifically that I reached out to him before my package even arrived. He opened the return two days before he got the item I sent him. Also eBay didn't refund him, I did. I was very clear and included all necessary info including the tracking number to both him and eBay. I'm done with it at this point. I'm going to take the"L" and move on.

Did the (wrong) manual arrive late?
Did they open a Not As Described claim?
Did you respond to the Claim with the tracking number showing that it was still in transit?
Although the tracking is already in eBay's records , they want you to Respond to the Claim and show why it is incorrect.

From the outside, I would think the buyer got two manuals confused.
He opened a Claim.
You contacted him-- but did not put your position into the Claim.
EBay assumed the buyer was correct and refunded him
You likely also got a black mark on your selling account, btw.
Ebay was threatening to suspend my account even though I let them know what was going on.
Was this before or after the refund?
EBay will suspend seller accounts with "a lot" of problems like unresolved Claims.
But usually they start with higher selling fees and/or restrictions on the number and value of listings, before moving to suspension.
Unless you are a non-US seller. EBay doesn't cut much slack for us .
