Buyer message: "Please pack carefully"...... isn't this an implied task for any seller?
Why do buyers feel a need to send please pack carefully messages? Have other sellers done something wrong before? It feels like if I got on a shuttle bus and the first thing I said to the driver was "Please drive safely"

·1 year agoThis message doesn't bother me a bit. This is often a flag for the seller to take extra care when packing because the buyer has a carrier with a history of damaging the mail. During Covid I worked for UPS, Amazon, and then the USPS and I can tell you there are carriers (delivery persons) who will very deliberately go out of their way to throw, kick, bury, and even step on packages. If you have a disgruntled delivery person or live in an area where the sort facility is staffed by badly trained employees you will notice very quickly that your packages may arrive in very bad shape.
I currently have an outstanding regular carrier on my USPS route who has a nightmare of a sub. This sh**bird of a sub has been responsible for every single one of my damaged or unscanned outgoing packages in the past year so I no longer let him touch my packages. The sub has such a bad track record that my regular carrier now keeps me apprised of his sub's schedule just so that I know to take the packages to the post office myself. Buyers don't have the option of choosing who delivers their mail, so when they say "please pack with care" what they're likely signaling is that they've had problems with deliveries in the past.

·1 year agoTo be honest, I buy from "experienced" sellers and even saying "Please be careful with the package", and even showing images of items damaged after arriving at my home, they still don't listen and I still get packages damaged. So, "experienced" sellers for me these days means very little....
