Buyer issue
A buyer of mine changed their mind about an item the day I shipped it out. It was delivered, they said they never opened it, just wrote return to sender on the package and wants a refund. First of all, the buyer did not request a formal return on EBay. I have not received the returned item. If I do, am I obligated to still refund the buyer? It sold on Feb 13, and delivered on the 16th Feb. thoughts?

·3 years agoI would message the buyer and let them know they should have opened a return request with eBay (this will CYA if the buyer complains).
I wouldn't even consider a refund until you have received and inspected the item. Upon receipt, if everything is good, the right thing to do is issue a refund...then put the buyer on your blocked bidder list.

OP3 years agoThank you! I did ask why they didn’t do a formal refund request.., I mean it protects the buyer as much as the seller!

·3 years agoMaybe they have done so many returns before or maybe they are just naive.

·3 years agoWait for the item to be returned, refund minus shipping costs.
Introduce the buyer to your blocked buyer list.
Relist.

·3 years agoThis is what I would do.
I would wait until you get the item back.
If/when you get it back refund the buy everything LESS shipping.
After all, you had to pay to ship it.
Then re-list it.
Don't forget to block this buyer.

·3 years agoLucky you they marked return to sender. You can now, once you receive the item back, can refund less your expenses.
