buyer from asia didn't give english name...want to but cant ship!!!!!
Summary: jeremiah238 is having trouble shipping an item to an overseas buyer who did not provide their name in English. Suggestions from participants include using Google Translate to obtain a proper name, shipping the package regardless as local carriers often handle foreign addresses, or canceling the sale citing address issues. Some participants also provide detailed steps for contacting customer service or making adjustments to the shipping label.
Overseas buyer paid but did not give name in ENGLISH. Tried to contact him dozens of times and no results.

·1 week ago@jeremiah238 I have shipped probably thousands of packages to buyers whose names are not in English -- never had one problem.
Most of the people I know don't have English names (but then I live in Minnesota, which is heavily populated by Norwegians, Swedes, Germans and Irish!).

·1 week agoI don't think that has anything to do with creating a shipping label and shipping the item.

·1 week agoAt the top and bottom of every page in Ebay are links to contact Customer Service.
You should save this information as it can come in handy from time to time. At the very bottom is a link in which you can request Ebay to call you.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT or ask an Agent to call you, in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

From this link you can request Ebay to call you in the USA. The option is available when Staff is available to respond, so NOT 24/7/365.

·1 week agoYour local PO or carrier doesn't need to understand the name and it doesn't need to be translated into English. Why not just make the label and ship the package?

·1 week ago · EditedWhat kind of Asian language is it? Most non-western alphabet languages can be translated enough thru Google Translate in order to generate a postage label to successfully be delivered to the buyer. I've personally done it for Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Thai. The language I've done this the most for is Russian. Never gotten any of them returned to me.
First step is translate the address in Google Translate. Some places won't state a city and/or region because they are so tiny. As for the addressee's name and street number and name address, copy and paste that into the two address fields (or maybe 3 in some 3rd party ones) provided. It doesn't really matter where you cut it off if you are having character limitation errors. Just as long as you include everything in there. If you can't I'd say to cut off whatever characters that are at the end. Make sure you are using the English translation of the words and NOT the Romanization of the words.
Next print out the address exactly how the buyer provided that to you (in the country's alphabet) and tape that directly onto the package next to the postage you generated. Make sure you include all characters even if you had to remove some from your postage label because of the character limit. This is for the postage employees when the package reaches the destination country.
Optional step. I like to also include the Romanization of the address as well just to be thorough. So basically I'll have the same address on the package written 3 different ways so there will be no confusion.

·1 week agoI've shipped plenty of packages overseas with names and addresses in a foreign language, never had an issue.
If the person lives in China, and their name and address is in Chinese - their Post Office can read it, our Post Office doesn't need it in English, they aren't the final carrier.
Just make sure the countries name is in English, that way the Post Office knows what country it is going to.

·1 week agoWith USPS the address has to be in English. I had one for Japan with a Japanese address and USPS returned it to me as undeliverable because the address wasn't in English (even though the country name was there in English).

·1 week agoWhen I used to ship a lot of things to China, I would ask the buyer to give me their name & address in "English" (Roman characters) as well as Chinese characters. I would print and affix a second address label in Chinese for more reliable handling once it arrived in China.

·1 week agoWhat do you expect a 'live' agent to do?
Copy/paste the 'name' in google translate, then edit the name or
Edit using 'ebay buyer' as name
Name does NOT matter. Only address needs to be accurate.

·1 week agoI would go to my Items Awaiting Shipment screen, create the label and ship the package.
https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/?filter=status:AWAITING_SHIPMENT
An alternative would be to click on the 3 vertical dots next to the sale, then click on Cancel. Select Problem With Buyer's Address as the reason.
You do not need permission from eBay to do either of those actions.

·1 week agoJust cancel the sale with the reasoning being trouble with the address. If there is a box for further details enter what you just posted.
