·9 months agoI’m so sorry to hear that:( sucks so bad the way it’s handled. I saw now Amazon is upping their return policy with fees if it showcases wear and tear etc—I hope eBay checks into it. Lastly I’d love to consult Marketing on. A concept for ads. I think eBay isn’t positioned as it should be—it’s too focused on the actual item that is selling versus a whole slew of other things. Maybe once that is done different people will see eBay differently and not use it like amazon

·9 months agoIn the trading card business, the 3 day return window given by the "No Returns" option is worth FAR, FAR more than any 50% deduction on the rare bad return. It is, quite frankly, the best seller protection eBay has ever given.

·9 months agoIn my experience people who do return scams initiate the return the same day as delivery, so I don't see what difference limiting it to 3 days could make.

·9 months agoPokemon has some of the worst online customer in existance, if you can't price that sort of thing happening into your your business model than don't sell that product.
Having worked at a store that sold Pokemon stuff I never actually experienced there being any sort of premium on those Burger King balls for being sealed anyway, the contents are not randomized, just clean them up and sell them again.

·9 months agoUs sellers take a chance selling something to a buyer.
Not all buyers will be on the 'honest roll'.
If you didn't do the refund yourself first but had eBay do it by escalation...'they still charged their fee'...that's what happens. It would be a different story if you approved the refund.
All we can do is block the buyer from future purchases.

·9 months agoThis is an unfortunate risk in selling sealed product online. eBay's automated return process almost always sides with the buyer so it's best to refund before the case closes to recover your fees and then appeal. They did return the "cards" with the balls though? At least if you got everything back you can resell them as used.
You can contact eBay CS on Facebook or Insta to try and appeal and maybe at least get your fees back. It is better to go through the social sites because they are US based and have more authority and knowledge than regular CS.
FIRST though you need to report the buyer for abusing the Money Back Guarantee by returning opened/damaged product through eBay's report form. Reporting the buyer should be the first thing done in cases like this, it does add weight to your side with both AI and human CS (more so if they have other reports). You can also ,if so inclined, file mail fraud reports with the USPS and IC3.gov.

·9 months agoEBAY has no way of determining who is "at fault". EBAY has no idea what you shipped to the customer or condition of item when you opened the box. Only his word against your word (no proof).
Small Claims Court would also require proof and not just your statement. Do you have a video of you opening this box?

·9 months agoSorry to hear that this happened to you, But to eBay - sellers are in business, and businesses can deduct losses. So there really is no place to report this as fraud, and even small claims court would probably cost more of your time and money than it is worth.
