Hi
This is so annoying, I have the item all packaged up, it’s going for peanuts anyway and when the listing ended I get this message.
I have never reneged on any purchase on eBay and I wouldn’t dream of doing it.
Surely these bids are binding, I’m not a business, just trying to raise some cash to pay my bills.
Feeling very frustrated. I am going to message the buyer. Auctions don’t work like this. ☹️

·4 months agoBids are binding, Returns are not, With the ebay guarantee customers will always have the right to return an item & get a refund, There are very few exceptions to the rule.

·4 months agoThankfully they cancelled before you brought to the post office.
Yes this sucks when it happens, but at least you now have a new Best Buddy for your Best Buddy List 🙂

Potential buyer: Hi, how much is shipping to Hawaii? Do you have green lanyard still for sale?
Me: Shipping is $7. Yes I still have green. You may use this code for 10% off. XXXXXXX. Aloha, James
Potential buyer: Hi, Please let me know if one green lanyard goes cheaper in price. Thanks
Me: Yes I still have green. One green lanyard is $7 + $6 shipping. Don't forget to use XXXXXXX for a 10% discount. Aloha, James (I misunderstood the question.)
Potential buyer: $13 total for lanyard price too high for me. Thanks again though.
Why didn't he just ask for a discount and I would have politely said NO?

·4 months ago@cheryl2107 the above advice is good.....for US sellers.....it's how it works here. You are in the UK and there may be different rules.......probably good if you ask on the UK board.......

·4 months ago@cheryl2107 Buyers can send a cancellation request, but sellers are not obligated to cancel. If your buyer has paid, you can refuse to cancel and send the item. BUT - you may cause yourself more headaches by sending a buyer something they do not want. The buyer can open up a return and send it back, if you accept returns. If you do not accept returns, they can still open up a return using one of the INAD reasons and you will still have to refund or pay to get item back, then refund. It is your choice.
A similar topic came up recently and I said that next time I get a cancellation, I'm going to refuse it and see what happens. We all tend to assume a buyer will open a return and maybe lie about the reason. No doubt some will, but is it the majority? Are any losses from returns made up for by buyers who decide to keep their item? Only about 40% of my buyers actually return items after they've opened a return. I've never not cancelled, so I do want to test the waters and see what happens.

·4 months agoYes bids are binding however buyer still can return the item upon receiving it and make a false claim in order to get you the seller to pay for it. If they are asking to cancel after auction ends just cancel the transaction and relist the item. You don't want to waste time with this buyer. Yes it can be frustrating I hear you however in business yes stuff like this does happen. It's taking the appropriate action to save time and money. Cancel/Refund them and relist.
