Buyer files erroneous claim with bank and I'm out $165.
I recently sold a pny rtx 2080 super graphics card to an ebay buyer. While the item was in transit, buyer files an erroneous claim with his bank. Now Im out $165. Why ebay?
I had your support call me so that I may dispute this outcome. You agreed with me after I provided you with proof that the item was shipped, that the seller received the item and that he left positive feedback for this item. I also had correspondence from the seller sent through ebay where he admitted to me that the item works perfectly.
You assured me that I was wronged and that you would make it right. You started by refunding the $20 dispute fee. That was awesome, thank you for that.
But you went ahead and stole $165 from my bank account without my consent.
I want my money back. End of story...

·5 months ago🤣Welp I was wrong about the OP never coming back, funny how putting that in writing often does the trick to shake the OP out of hiding. And yet, @heartr_32 even with your umpteen replies to each individual here, claiming they didn't read, etc. you STILL have not said whether the buyer's claim was Item Not Received, or Item Not As Described. You haven't given any dates of events, haven't stated what steps you took in which order, and whether you did any of it on your device as opposed to a phone conversation with eBay.

Why call support?
Did you put the tracking number into the Claim or did you think the clerk would do it for you?
Supplying the tracking number IS the way you dispute a Claim.
Not calling emotional support, who will agree with you if only so they can get off the phone and have a pee break.

OP5 months agoI just went to my bank and filed a claim for the charge. Dealing with ebay customer service is a waste of time.

Oh boy. Filing a claim with your bank for that money eBay withdrew will put you into a different problem most likely. It may mean the end of your account. eBay can close it, if you owe money to them, and/or hold money from future sales to recover it. Just letting you know.
I don't have an answer as to how to best handle this situation. But obviously something went wrong, whether it was in how you handled it or how eBay responded, that I can't say as I don't know for sure.
heartr_32
OP5 months agoI dont care. ebay can suck it. I don't sell that often here and mostly use cheaper and much safer options to sell.

·5 months agoYou may not care about eBay but what about your credit rating? Because they WILL send collections after you.
jonathanbrightlight
·5 months agoOh boy. You "filed a claim" with your bank disputing the charge from eBay for what you owe them? That will not work out well for you. Your bank may not appreciate it, and eBay certainly will not let you just reverse the payment and continue selling here. I suggest instead of getting an attitude with those trying to help you that you actually try reading the responses without your emotions clouding your judgment, though it may well be too late now.

What people are asking is whether you actually RESPONDED directly to the dispute and did you copy and paste the tracking number into the claim and the chargeback notification?
It's not enough to just contact ebay and have them look at the transaction to see that it was delivered.
kibble-net
·5 months agoNo I didn't. I'm not ebay. I'm just another seller.
However, you would have been covered if you replied with the tracking number showing delivery confirmation. Ebay's seller protection policy is very clear about this situation.
When you ignore a dispute, you lose every time. You have to respond with the tracking number in a reasonable time frame.

·5 months agoThe item hadn't been delivered yet.
gurlcat
·5 months ago@kensgiftshop Responding with the tracking number is still necessary whether the item has been delivered yet or not. If it's running late, eBay will extend the time after you provide that proof that the item is in the carrier's hands.
kensgiftshop
·5 months agoYes, Ebay would.
But, it was dispute through the buyers bank, not Ebay.
gurlcat
·5 months ago@kensgiftshop Correct, but if you respond to the chargeback INR with tracking, if the bank finds in the buyer's favor, eBay will give a courtesy refund rather than take it from the seller.
For all we know eBay has given the OP their money back, but we'll never know because this is another pointless grief dump poster who doesn't care to update or answer questions.
We don't even know whether it was an INR or INAD claim. Even though the OP said the buyer filed it while the item was still in transit, later he talks about how the buyer (he accidentally said 'seller') admitted the graphic card works just fine and even gave positive feedback -which I just checked and they did. So why would he be talking about the buyer's satisfaction with the item's functionality if the claim was about delivery?
Believe it or not, buyers can file an INAD (through eBay OR their card) before the item is delivered. Why, I have no idea. But I had it happen to me once, and it was the reason I won and got the scammer NARU'd.

OP5 months agothis seems to be a **bleep** in ebays armour where you can dispute a claim with your financial institution while the item you purchased is in transit. Please look out people. Im out a graphics card and the money.

·5 months agoYou actually agreed with following ALL of ebay polices so you DID give consent the day you signed up on ebay and every time since then when you listed an item.
If you actually followed the policies then you would have been covered under seller protection if the item was delivered to the buyer.
The item needs to show delivered to the BUYER.. not a return delivered back to the seller.

You agreed with me after I provided you with proof that the item was shipped, @heartr_32
Umm
I'm reading this as:
The buyer opened a chargeback with his bank.
The seller did not respond to the chargeback with the tracking number
The buyer won their chargeback.
The seller finally responded to eBay
If you did not immediately respond with proof of shipping to eBay when they notified you, you lost the Claim right there.
If the shipment was past eBay's last estimated date for delivery, you lost the Claim on that basis.
If eBay did not notify you of the chargeback, you have reason to appeal.

·5 months ago@heartr_32 There are some incredibly savvy sellers in this forum who might be able to instruct you on exactly how to get eBay to issue you a full courtesy refund. The fact that they already waived your $20 fee is encouraging; it's eBay acknowledging that this chargeback wasn't your "fault." But you need to answer KEY questions about the details of your case, some of which have already been asked^.
This Community is a wealth of information for safe and lucrative selling on eBay, but you will rarely get it from dropping an original post and stepping back with nothing more to say.

·5 months ago"You assured me that I was wronged . . ."
That sentence makes me wonder if you (mistakenly) believe that you're addressing eBay. When you post here, you are addressing a very large group of fellow eBay buyers and sellers who volunteer their time here to help others and answer questions if/when possible
Let me assure you that no one here assured you that you had been wronged.
Also, what kind of complaint did the buyer file with his bank? Item not received?
Item not as described?
heartr_32

·5 months agoBuyer probably claimed they did not recognize the charge on their credit card of the bank.
Feedback and emails and such don't really help unless you add that in your response where the bank reads it.
We get an opportunity to respond to a credit card dispute...we can put about 1000+ words into a response and photos where the bank will see it and read it...eBay steps aside so you are dealing with the bank and not eBay.
Getting $20. back from eBay doesn't mean you win...only that eBay is doing a courtesy refund.
You did an appeal so there is not much you can do except block the buyer.
tobaccocardyahoo
·5 months agoThe decision to refund was made by the bank.
If it was not delivered when the dispute was opened, the bank would probably have ruled for the buyer and Ebay would not have any reason to dispute the claim. Refund of the $20 fee would have been a courtesy.
If the claim was a quality of merchandise claim, you would probably lose that, whether the item showed as delivered or not.
No one would have read your correspodence.
The bank makes its decision based on the buyer's statement opening the claim, and the response you wrote when Ebay notified you of the dispute. What you wrote needs to have been complete, accurate and understandable,
Ebay stole nothing from you. It acted in accordance with the agreement that you agreed to when you started selling here.
