Buyer can't make offer
I have a listing where I received a few offers. One of them I countered and haven't heard back. Now I have someone who messaged me and wants to make a higher offer but there is no offer button on the listing anymore. Why would that be and anyway to fix?

·1 year agoHi @kal8857 and welcome. There are several reasons why offers may not appear on your listing. Below is a link to the policy governing offers, for your perusal.

·1 year agoThis is a problem with Auctions. EBay pushes auctions on newbies because that is their "brand" even though over 85% of listings are Fixed Price.
With Auctions, a Offer ends the ability of anyone else to make an offer, whether the Offer is accepted or not.
Some buyers use this as a strategy to discourage other bidders who might Offer more.
You can close the Auction listing, change it to Fixed Price at the acceptable offer the second buyer made, and relist it with their name as the winning bidder.
Or.
You can Message them back. "At the moment there is an open but unaccepted Offer on this Auction. You can still bid in the Auction."
Note that while on Fixed Price listings Offers are usually lower than the asking price, with Auctions it is expected that Offers will be higher than the opening bid. The buyer is hoping to get the Auction item at less than the Auction will eventually sell for, and get it sooner.
Another point. Auctions have a much higher percentage of Unpaid Item Disputes than Fixed Price listings.
And another. Selling high value/high fraud goods like cameras and camera equipment is not a particularly good idea for newbies. Practise on something cheaper.
And, if you didn't already know, as a new seller your customer payment will be Held by eBay for up to 30 days against your performance.
You are registered for Managed Payments, right? Because eBay can't pay you without your SSN and checking account information.

·1 year agoeBay hasn't "pushed" Auctions for years, a new seller has to go deep into the info for sellers to even find a mention of listing format.

There are two choices of format on the Sell Your Item form.
The default is Auction.

·1 year agoWhy don't you revise it and add the best offer.

·1 year agoIf the item has a bid, Best offer disappears.
2 of your items have bids, No Best offer on those.
1 of your items has no bids, and has Best offer available
1 of your items has no bids, and no Best offer attached.
