Buyer Canceled
I listed an item and within 30 minutes I received a message that it had bee sold and paid for. Then I received a message from the buyer saying "Hello, Please cancel my order it was a mistake. Thanks".
Is this some kind of scam? And if legit, I haven't been able to find the directions for how to do this and not
hurt myself. I post very rarely, so not up to speed on everything. Thanks.

Sorry for your situation. Welcome to eBay. Chances are they found the item for a cheaper price. Just cancel at customers request, relist and move on.
Happy New Year
PS Block them from further taking up your time.

·2 years agoI find for me i canceled the sale and refunded right after canceling. People make mistakes it is better to do that then have to pay to return it.

·2 years agoJust find the item in your Orders tab. The pulldown there will have the cancel option. Select buyer requested.

·2 years agoA got an email to cancel a sale the other day. Not personally from the buyer...but an email from eBay.
My buyer went through eBay to cancel the sale. Never got an email from the buyer.
I waited until the last day to cancel it through eBay. I wanted to make the buyer sweat a little for his mistake. I also blocked the buyer.
Also, when I cancel, the refund comes out of my "available funds" from previous buyers and not from this sale until days later.
A buyer can go through eBay to cancel a sale asking the seller without sending me a personal email from the buyer. Be careful on cancellations.

·2 years agoJust accept the cancellation & select the reason buyer requested cancelation. Relist the item & move forward!
Good luck!
If the buyer requested to cancel and you select “buyer requested†you don’t have to rush to do it with an hour you have 3 days to cancel. You will be credited all fees.

·2 years agoCancel the order and use buyer requested as the reason.
If the funds are on hold, you'll have to cover the refund, until the buyers payment is released, then the funds will be sent to you.

·2 years agoI hate "by mistake" when you have to click a couple times to pay, but all you have to do is click "buyer requested to cancel". It won't hurt you and if you do it within an hour, you won't be charged the .30 transaction fee.
Sorry but your information is incorrect. Sellers have 3 days to cancel a transaction by request. Buyers have an hour after making a purchase to request a cancellation.
When a seller cancels a transaction citing buyer requested all fees are credited including the 30 cent transaction fee.

·2 years agoBoy I would love it if "by mistake" was a valid excuse for anything in life.
"Sorry Vegas casino, I put all my money on black by mistake. Can I cancel it and get all my money back?" or
"Sorry cops, I tried to rob this bank by mistake. Can I cancel it and just go home?"
