Bulk edit handling fee or cost
Hi sellers---- I sell mostly books from my own library that I have accumulated over 50 years as well as other items I have owned. Media mail fees are going up July 22 by 9%. Because ebay charges its fees on everything, item cost, shipping and sales tax, to account for this, I want to charge a handling fee on my book sales. I have tried to do a bulk edit but I cannot find the "handling cost" line in the bulk edit available areas. Do you know a way to bulk edit handling fees or costs ? Thanks

Why not just raise the price of your items?

On dot ca you can either use Shipping Policy in settings or manually edit listing by listing. (Bulk edit has NEVER been by friend so I usually fix listings on the fly or in small batches.) For some bizarro reason it will let you add a handling charge for some listings when you offer home pick up but not all. Unsure if it is one of those whackadoodle features where it is possible for a grandfathered item or a routine run of the mill everyday random eBay glitch!?!? (As a side note there should be a place within eBay where all known glitches are documented.)
As for handling charges many online businesses either add a handling charge, order minimum or they creatively build in to their online prices. There is one store I deal with (major chain) that will show 1 price online and a different price in store. Bit of head scratcher. With eBay fees at every turn a seller needs to have a way to cover costs without pricing themself out of business. A perspective..probably not the only perspective but definitely something that needs to be allowed!! I'm sorry but personally unable to promote items like some sellers can just to put more money in eBay's pockets!!

·4 years agoCan you explain how having a handling fee would be better than just raising prices?
Can you make me understand how a handling fee would be the better choice?
Let's say I have a book listed for $20 plus shipping and state sales tax.
How is that any different from having it listed for $15 plus a handling fee of $5 plus shipping and sales tax?
To the best of my knowledge, a seller is charged FVF on the total amount a buyer pays, regardless of how it's broken down.

·2 years agoeBay allows for a nominal handling fee. This fee is rolled into the shipping cost and is not visible to buyers. It is separate. I use the handling fee tool to help offset my eBay listing fees and final value fees. I've never fielded a negative comment or complaint from buyers regarding shipping costs.
