In 2023, I've blocked more buyers than I have in my entire 15 years on ebay combined. I've had more issues this year than I've ever had in my 15 years.

leave neutral or neg FB
misuse the return process
send abusive or threatening messages
don't pay
send excessive lowball offers
send lowball offers on stuff already deeply discounted
(my experience with the last two is they more often than not are a PITA to deal with and it's usually over >$10)
definitely had an increase in the last two this year

·3 years agoMy list is long too. I have blocked several people who have been nasty to my answers here on the community. There was a thread recently that the OP just wanted to fight about policy and they were dead wrong. One look at their FB left for others told me a lot of about them A couple of ugly snipes in my direction and they made the list!

OP3 years agoMine didn't become long until this year. 2023 is the breaking point for so many people.

·3 years agoI think I successfully blocked all of the buyers in the US except for ten. And those ten are solely responsible for supporting all of my sales. They are starting to get cocky and entitled though. I might have to pull another "no soup for you" on them.

Ebay has truly transformed into a very different ebay from what existed 15 years ago
I stopped selling on Ebay in 2008 because it suffered mightily from the recession and moved to another online marketplace, where I sold more at higher prices, and was able to adapt my offerings to a more customer-centric marketplace.
Been back here because that marketplace's concerns about counterfeits and authenticity, and price competitiveness have made selling collectibles difficult.
Ebay is no longer risking customer satisfaction to support its sellers. Life is hard for some sellers and getting harder, as the economy decays, and younger buyers have no interest in any perennial items which have been sold here.
My own Ebay purchases are mostly cheap, commodity, Chinese electronics I can use and throw away if they fail. It is cheaper to buy them here than on other US based marketplaces.
If you have been able to run your business without major changes for 15 years on Ebay, you are a lucky seller. Many have had to adapt to change continually.

OP3 years agoYes, everything I used to list always sold. Maybe not overnight, but within a few months, everything would sell. I've had things listed since 2020, that haven't sold in 3 years.

OP3 years agoYeah it's bad for us sellers. Entitled buyers, less sales, more fees, and now taxes on our 5¢ gross profit we end up making.

·3 years agoNot sure what taxes you're referring to, but eBay is not the entity that's responsible for any taxes that you are being charged.
