Bikini Sizing Listing issues
Summary: sprylily expressed frustration over eBay's removal of specific sizing options, such as band and cup sizes for bikinis, and shared concerns about potential return issues due to misleading size labels. caldreamer sympathized, noting similar problems with eliminated pant sizes, while mamacassidy pointed out incorrect size listings could lead to more returns. Some participants suggested workarounds like providing detailed measurements or using existing fields, but sprylily emphasized it still risks misleading buyers. The discussion highlighted broader issues with e-commerce platforms' handling of clothing sizes.
So I am not sure we can sell Victoria Secret or any other brand of bikini top now that eBay has removed all the sizing options. A bikini from Victoria secret size 34C. How can you list that now safely. I was advised by eBay phone rep to convert that to small medium or large. WTHeck. , why would that make any sense at all. Why would I be qualified over the manufacture of the item to resize it. I explained to the phone rep that if I list that as a medium. not only would I get if returned I would get it returned as an item not as described. It completely opens returns up even if I plaster 34C all over the listing because in the listing size it will say Medium. Does removing Band/cup sizing on something that covers the breasts make any sense at all to anyone? In serious need of help. Please offer any suggestions you may have. EBay if you are reading this? please stop and think and a middle school intelligence level on understanding what I am saying, I am not sure why your chat ai bot un unable to comprehend the issue..

·3 weeks agoI just got hit with my first one too! I had a 3XL shirt, not a plus size. It only goes up to 2XL 🙄

·3 weeks agoI just looked at a sold listing.
There is a Cup Size field.
I would put 34C in the title, then put Medium in the Size field and 34C in the Cup Size field.
Anyone looking for a 34C will find you.
sprylily
OP3 weeks agoMissed the point. Talk about confusing the buyer, you list something as a medium when the tag clearly says 34C. What an about a 34DDD or a 34K. Certainly they are not Xtra larges. This fuels the item not described return buyer. Too risky to sell them now because of returns.
adamcartwright
·3 weeks agoI didn't miss the point at all.
I was telling you how I would handle it.
What other type of response did you expect from us? No one here has the power to change eBay's sizing choices.
sprylily
OP3 weeks agothe big picture point here is that it is an inad. if you put it as a medium when it is a 34C. it is conflicting sizes which confuses the buyer and can return as an inad because it is mis labeled size information.

·3 weeks agoHow weird would it be if you could put it in the title, description and item specific field. That would be downright strange.
sprylily
OP3 weeks agoIt would be strange to have buyers who would look down there. or would not work the return process to recapture original shipping on items that do not fit. if this was your lane you would get it.

·3 weeks agoCustomers can return it as an INAD regardless of whether your listing was correct or not.

·3 weeks ago · EditedYou specifically asked for suggestions ("Please offer any suggestions you may have.") Then when someone gave you a suggestion, you told them they were wrong.
If it is too risky to sell them, then don't ask for suggestions about how to sell them.

·3 weeks ago · EditedeBay and all other platforms I can think of are obsessed with sizes that are virtually meaningless instead of requiring measurements. Maybe it is because I am an old scientist/engineer and not a fashionista but this absolutely drives me nuts.
I have some vintage clothing on eBay and eBay's sister site, all vintage sizes from the 50s-70s. I had to take my measurements, use an AI tool to convert the measurements to a "modern" size (which are still not standardized ), and put THAT down for a size so they'd actually list and show up. At the same time I put in my measurements along with a note practically screaming to please buy based on my measurements and that the size was just a "rough guess" (which modern sizes are.) Maybe this is an option for you? Ask Google or such what a 34C would be and include measurement/cup size. (I have had good luck so far, granted my garments and market are different.)

·3 weeks agoYES -- This is always how I've handled listing vintage clothing and even sizing in other countries.
I've never had an INAD or return for size on those.
There are ways to alert buyers in title, description, etc.

·3 weeks agoJust curious, but who is eBay's Sister site?

For any clothing sellers who are unhappy with this new feature, you should leave feedback using the question mark at the bottom of the seller hub.
I left this:
"The new rollout of "standardized fashion sizes" is not good for buyers or sellers. You have left out many sizes and taken away the option for people to input a custom size. If ebay wants sellers to put in "the size closest" then ebay needs to pay for the Item Not As Described returns that will result from the incorrect information in the listing."

·3 weeks agoIt seems like every single time ebay makes changes to listings for Clothes & accessories they manage to royally screw it up. You really have to wonder just where the disconnect occurs.

·3 weeks agoI feel your pain! EBAY has really screwed up with the changes in apparel sizing.
EBAY even eliminated women's pants size 18 and 20 (which is on all standardized size charts). I wrote a letter to EBAY corporate office and complained. I pointed out how EBAY will lose business because when customers search for SIZE 18 pants (search engine says "none available").
I had to change my SIZE 18 to XL (I put explanation in my photos and on description page that EBAY eliminated size 18 and 20 (I am forced to list item by measured size XL).
The decision makers are at EBAY corporate office in San Jose. I suggest you contact them and explain what problems they have created for you. Maybe if they get enough complaints, they will fix this problem.

·3 weeks agoEbay still has women's size 18 and 20 under the Plus Size category.
chapeau-noir
·3 weeks agoThere's the rub - there's a difference between 18 and 20 (misses), and 18W and 20W (plus). EBay isn't the only platform who does this, though - Vinted and Mercari are even worse. They can't figure out the difference between XXL and 2X. I mean, can we please get some women in charge here so it's done right?

·3 weeks agoI do not like the sizing choices either. I am listing the tag size in the heading. The standardized sizing I will check if the brand lists sizing equivalent chart and use that. At the bottom of the item details there is a add more then you will see add specific details...I add the brand size is which is equivalent to ...please see photos for measurements. I sell Chico's items ...their sizing are 1, 2, 3 etc. Enter that in the more jnfo . Full details and variations in full description. Print to change you could enter all sizing info in the size box....since change I have had to change all because Ebay would not list. I see items I purchased in Europe and when listing I try and put all /as many conversions I can.. if a rag with different sizing I do photo. Trying to avoid from buyers returning/request refund because ' not as advertised ' MY REQUEST TO EBAY CHANGE IT BACK....ALSO PHITO LAYOUT!!! CURRENT CHANGES MADE IT HARDER AND LKNGER TO LIST.
