Bid cancellation
I have had twice in the last two days someone bid an item up really high and then cancel their bid hours before it’s over. is there any way to find out who that person is so that I can block them

·10 months agoI thought buyers couldn't cancel bids X amount of hours before an auction ends?

·10 months agoWithin 12 hours of the auction ending, buyers only have 1 hour to retract a bid, but they can still do it. Sellers can cancel a bid at any point.

You can retract a bid if (Note: these options are only applicable for up to 1 hour after making the bid when the listing is ending in less than 12 hours) :
Any other bids can't be retracted, but you can still contact the seller to see if they'll agree to cancel a bid for you. Remember, the seller isn't obligated to cancel the bid so they may not agree.

·10 months agoI only run auctions and have used that format since I started in 2000. If someone cancels a bid in the first couple days of an auction it's no big deal to me. If it's late in the auction I block them forever unless they're a repeat buyer or contact me first. It's worked well for me. I also block late and non-paying buyers. Although I love the new auto pay system. That's pretty much solved the late and non payers. At least 99% of them.

If a buyer finds the need to cancel their bids, while annoying, it could have been more issues if they had actually allowed the auction to close and then notify you that there is a problem on their end.
I get it because they bid so much, you would prefer to have that money, but keep in mind that their high bid was not what the item was selling for as no one else had likely bid that high.
I do not think you can see their full ID, but it has been a long time since I've ran an auction, so you should take a peek. Click on the number of bids on the listing. Then it will take you to a screen of your bidders. At the bottom it will show you if anyone cancelled their bids.

I believe you do see the buyer's full ID when looking at the bid history on your own auctions. I can't right now find proof of that, though, as I also don't run auctions often.

·10 months agoThis is correct. I just looked at one of mine and the IDs are visible to me.

·10 months agoI figured once the OP took a peek they should be able to tell right away if they can see the full ID. Of course I can't for good reason. But the OP didn't appear to know where to look, so I gave them a little help.
