·6 days agoDon't drop ship ANYTHING. Only sell what you can have in your hand personally. Just about every day there is someone that comes on the boards to ask why they were permanently suspended, and they all turn out to be non-U.S. sellers dropshipping from U.S. locations. When you do that, you have no control over inventory when something is out of stock or arrives damaged, and the defects will pile up, usually quickly. Also, we do have ethnic markets here, so items from all over the world are not hard to find for us. Pickapaper suggested small antiques or tapestries; that is a good idea. Something not mass-produced and unique to your location. If you have flea markets or something similar where you are, I would suggest seeing what might be available and starting with just a few small objects and see how it goes.

·6 days agoAnything which is easy to obtain, which you cannot buy at the best prices places you in competition with other sellers who bring nothing to the party and will not lead to success.
That includes most "everyday-use products, home essentials, beauty items, and affordable products"
It also includes most products that you might sell which you have not physically examined before selling and shipping.
Selling things which are not part of your personal experience will be extremely difficult. US buyers have many choices, and Ebay is not even considered by most US buyers for major brand products. Ebay's portion of the market for new, name brand, in production items drops every quarter.

·6 days agoGo with products you know really well based on your own interests. That's how your instincts will be able to effectively guide you rather than taking shots in the dark because you acquired a product ultra cheap, toss it online and then wonder why it's not selling well.
I've done that a few times but in selling guitar components for upgrading instruments, I've done pretty well and yet some stuff I bought mass quantities of simply doesn't sell as easy as I had hoped.
I then posted those items in bulk quantities and have yet to sell one which is crazy to me, but that boils down to marketing. I've created my own brand, I'm working on logos, product names etc. and while I'm not manufacturing ATM, I eventually will be because I'm also an electronics engineer by formal college education and an expert symphonic shred guitarist with decades in a lot of technical trade skill experience.
I made the right decision by choosing guitar gear but to see the few HUNDREDs of sets of humbuckers I now have sitting and paying interest on?
I will need to brand them, generate custom documentation with logos and artwork to gain people's attention and trust. You want to cultivate expectations from potential customers.
In that, I provide components with said guitar pickups that refine their performance into a league of their own, but even that's not enough. There's no word of mouth when you don't have a branding, logos, a brand slogan, a website to showcase the products and onward. While it may seem slightly deceptive, it's simply not because it's a staple in commerce.
Countless branded items have something made overseas with their graphics, logos, labels, stickers and documentation, and then they market it under the premise that their products are something they personally had a hand in creating. Sometimes, they genuinely did, but most of the time, they did not. A factory has a product catalog, you select features for your model of said product, they build it in mass quantity, and so maybe yours is slightly different from others that look the same, or it's just an identical product but one has marketing, logos, branding etc. and the other is pushing it in generic manner.
You don't want to bet he generic.

·1 week agoI don’t really want the most orders. Thing is that I have a job so I try to think about profit per time spent on eBay. I’d rather not be super busy on very low margin items. Going for a certain number of orders seems a bit silly to me.

·1 week agoYou are in Pakistan and I assume you want to sell to the U.S., so don't try to sell anything that we can buy at every kind of store in our neighborhoods. Sell something that is special to Pakistan such as tapestries or small antique items.

·6 days agoI understand your point, but I don’t think selling from Pakistan is necessarily bad advice. It depends on the product, supplier, shipping time, eBay policies, and how the business is managed. If done properly and within eBay’s rules, it can still be a viable option.

Other sellers that have found high-margin products to sell are probably not interested in giving you tips to allow you to compete with them and undercut their margins.
Products that are easy to obtain or that can be drop-shipped by anyone have the lowest margin and the most competition.
Products that are hard for others to obtain but that are easy for you to obtain have the most potential for profit. No one else knows which products are easy for you to obtain but are hard for others; that is something you must discover yourself.
The best products to sell are products where you can leverage your own specialized knowledge to obtain the best deal or where you can provide value to your buyers that other sellers cannot easily replicate.

·6 days agoBecause beauty products can be subject to strict U.S. product safety standards and labeling requirements which products from other countries may or may not meet these standards. Beauty products and other products can also be subject to strict import/export regulations. All items sold through eBay's International trading policy are required to comply with the laws of both countries.

·6 days agoLegitimate items you are knowledgeable about and can source from a legit provider. I’m thinking those Nee Dohs and Starbucks mugs you have listed are from China and may not be legit either.
One doesn’t just decide to sell online and google a line of items, find the lowest priced and resell them.
