Below Standard
After being on Ebay for 25 plus years I have received my first below standard, I was a power seller until I couldn't mail ever day had to change to 3 day shipping. Was changed to above average OK. When Ebay decided to list items again for you but neglected to remove the list again option on items not sold I managed to list maybe ten items before I figured it out. I listed some items that had already been listed by Ebay then had to cancel seven sales because it was double listed. Now I'm below average I sell mostly silver coins, they have left the ones already listed but won't let me list new ones . I have. been paying the extra 6 + % being added to regular %. I am now pretty much giving away costume jewelry $12.00 brooch for $0.99 cents just for the sale but then being on the bottom of the search list no one can find it. I am beginning to think it's just another way for Ebay to make more money and I will never get out of this hole.

I'm sorry you are experiencing these issue. Lets take this piece by piece in order to hopefully supply you with some information that you did not previously have.
The Power Seller program was retired in 2021. It was rolled into the TRS program. Your shipping / handling time being set at 3 days would NOT negatively impact being TRS unless you were not meeting that on a regular bases or way too frequently.
Was changed to above average OK. When Ebay decided to list items again for you but neglected to remove the list again option on items not sold I managed to list maybe ten items before I figured it out.
Are you referring to when Ebay changed the site to only have two types of listings. Auctions and GTC [good till cancelled]? If so, Ebay did that March of 2019, so over 6 years ago.
I listed some items that had already been listed by Ebay then had to cancel seven sales because it was double listed.
Yep, that would do it. Ebay really doesn't like sellers cancelling orders because they are OOS. Buyers of course don't like it much either, which is why Ebay is hard on the sellers that have too many of these happen.
The penalty fee is hard to deal with, I get that. It encourages sellers to work out of this problem as quickly as they can and not to fall back into this issue again.
The price you choose to sell your items at is not something Ebay controls. You select those prices. If your pricing is too low for you to make any money off them, then you have the control to change the pricing as needed.
I am beginning to think it's just another way for Ebay to make more money and I will never get out of this hole.
You aren't alone. This is a common sentiment posted by sellers that find themselves below standard. Somehow the need to find fault it Ebay so the seller doesn't have to take any fault in what has happened.
It appears from what you have said is that you have not kept up with changes / important changes on the site. That as you are finding out is something an active sellers should always stay on top of. Your lack of knowledge on the changes actually created this issue for you. Being unaware of the type of listings on Ebay that happened 6 years ago is the main thing that caused this to happen to you.
The only way out of issue. Find a way to increase the volume of sales transactions you have. Through having a sale, post some inexpensive items that sell well or find something that does. By diluting the numbers is how to get your status raised. I know this is far easier said that done.
FIRST, make sure you don't have any listings currently active that you don't have the inventory to cover. You absolutely do NOT want any more Cancellations due to OOS items.
Here is some information you should consider reading over in an order to help you update yourself of policy and rule changes.

I hope everything works out for you.

OP1 year agoI understand most of the reasons for my downgrade, I have been listing many items for .99 cents very few sales can't be found at the bottom of search.
When Ebay changed to list item's for you when they don't sell, good idea but if they list them in your items not sold account hub and you click on the left side to relist item it was letting you list again therefore you have double listing. I must assume you have and others have looked at my listings, seeing more than one. of the same items listed but those are because I have more than one of the same item, didn't want to list them as a buy now for one price. I'm frustrated that now again I get a neutral feedback for a item that was paid shipped next day was delivered late by the post office , asked for a revision no response from buyer.
I have been limited in my listings I can't sell silver most of my listings are coins and if they are listed twice when I do only have one must remove all from the safe look at over 500 listings and check them one by one which is what I have been doing. I do have them separated in value.
I am not trying to blame Ebay for my screw ups but I do wish they would make it a little easier to dig your way out of the hole. Not keep adding dirt. I will give you one more of my frustrating not my fault but no way to change , buyer bought a lot-53 coins I had more than one buy it now lot, gentleman wanted the two that were in the picture there was several hundred in pictures, I know he saw a couple that were better he posted neg. feedback accused me of bait and switch and being stupid. I sent a text to buyer offering to send him those for free. I appealed to Ebay they turned me down ? I think I'm just spitting in the wind only one side to a story no one to make a fair decision, I'll keep digging maybe ?

·1 year agoWhen Ebay changed to list item's for you when they don't sell...
You mean the policy change that happened 6 years ago AND is stated at the bottom of new listings when you get ready to post them. This is completely on you for not knowing about this change.
You can likely get that new neutral removed. The Feedback policy has also had many changes and you should likely update yourself on that policy too.
Go to the Seller Help page. Towards the bottom of the screen you will see a place to click on to submit the feedback for removal.

You don't and shouldn't have to have duplicate listings [which are against the rules] when you have more than one of something to sell that is exactly the same thing. When you create the listing, just change the quantity from one to however may you have for sale.
Your feedback did not get you in this pickle.

·1 year agoDoing cancel sales is not good and that was the 'icing on the cake'.
Never do an out of stock item when something gets sold again.
Email the buyer and offer something else in exchange of your items listed.
Buyer is looking for something in the mail...nothing zero nada in the mail gets the buyer mad.
I have even mailed something ASAP before telling buyer about the situation.
Maybe 'up' the value of an item replacement.
I have done it sometimes and it usually works...the buyers usually don't leave any feedback and that is O K with me.
It's all about the seller working with the buyer to make the buyer a 'happy camper'.

I'm sorry for your troubles..
BUT I just browsed page 1 & 2 of your listings and see at least 2 items that are "one of" vintage and listed more than once.
I urge you to go through your listings and delete the duplicates!

OP1 year agoI have been doing just that but a lot of my listing are for the same coin date and mint mark only the condition is different. I will be closing my store on the 19th I'm pulling everything down and starting over. It's too hard looking at coins all day and not go blind each one has to be pulled and inspected for dates mint mark and condition again.

Changing your handling time would not have affected your Top Rated Status. You must have fallen short on one of the Top Rated Seller metrics:
When Ebay decided to list items again for you but neglected to remove the list again option on items not sold I managed to list maybe ten items before I figured it out
Can you explain exactly what caused you to relist items that were already relisted? I do not recall eBay changing anything recently about how items renew.

OP1 year agoThey are listing auctions I think three time and buy it now but all move to your hub as not sold if you click on relist it will let you therefore double listing
stainlessenginecovers
·1 year agoIf you are 'below standard' is because you are mailing LATE- Later than what you have Set Up as your 'Handling Time' (sellers are NOT 'below standard' because you are shipping every 3 days)
(I have 5 Handling Days and have remained Top Rated for 15 years)

OP1 year agomy downgrade is not for LATE SHIPPING it's over all
jonathanbrightlight
·1 year agoIt's not "over all". There are always very specific reasons for you to be rated Below Standard, which can be found on your Seller Dashboard. Others have already covered the other issues raised, but you need to look at your Seller Dashboard and identify exactly what is causing you to be Below Standard and fix those issues, not continuing the way you are.

·1 year agoIt think they know the reason. Too many cancellations for OOS. They did not realize that BIN listings were GTC. So they were relisting some listings after 30 days which caused duplicate listings and no inventory to support them.
wbeach
OP1 year agoThat is correct, too many out of stock items, over all was a statement that I'm close on all ratings, I have managed to fix some of them. I know I can get out of the hole just a lot of stress never been here before.

·1 year ago@wbeach That is NOT what you said: "I was a power seller until I couldn't mail ever day had to change to 3 day shipping. Was changed to above average OK."
You were NOT 'downgraded' to 'average' for the reason of 'changing your shipping time to 3 day'.
