·4 months agoThat is what he was talking about. They are a terrible idea and card buyers avoid them like the plague. The card they want is always either sold out or overpriced.
You see so many of them in sports cards because sports card sellers with no business sense copy other card sellers with no business sense and think that the listing will cause people to buy multiple worthless cards from the same set.
However in reality that almost never works out and instead they spent 4 hours creating a listing of cards that will never sell. Any card you would consider putting into a variation listing is a card not worth listing in the first place. So many card sellers don't understand the finances or time involved in their own businesses and constantly make listings that will only net them 50 cents or less after expenses and that is only if the card sells, and most of the time it never sells, the number of worthless cards the seller has listed just instead continues to expand.

·4 months agoI find it easier to manage variations as groups of items, once they’re listed.
Adding or removing items is simple, but most sellers just don’t take the time
I don’t sell sports cards, but do have a few, and might decide to someday, so this point of view was very helpful....😊

·4 months agoCard variation listings however are literally managing adding and removing $2 items. Posted to a listing that people are much less likely to click on. It is madness.

·4 months agoI would do something like that in individual listings. If you tried to do it all in one listing how are poeple going to see the cards since you can only have up to 20 photos? If you have more than 10 cards then you are going to have to leave a lot out of photos and no one is going to want to buy them without seeing them.
I am not a card collector but I know how picky they can be and they are going to want to see the exact card with pictures of the front/back/edges in clear photos.
Just my two cents.

·4 months agoMy advice is DON'T DO IT.
It takes longer than making separate listings. It is much harder to manage. It does not interact will with offers and many customers will not click on variation listings.
You see those listing from card sellers who are living in a fantasy land.

·4 months agoI had to set them up for Christmas ornaments that have preprinted names on them and it was an absolute nightmare and to this day is still a nightmare to maintain those listings.
