Ballpark estimate on stamps?
Anyone with stamp knowledge that could give me a ballpark of what this lot might be worth? A rough estimate is perfectly fine. 🙂 I'm guessing it is not a high amount at all. Thank you for any assistance.

·3 years agoDo some research on pricing, take the best photos you can and put them up for auction. It is really the best way to deal with stuff when you don’t have expertise. Otherwise it will cost you more to have a pro take a good look at them then they may be worth. List them as ungraded and uncertified “as shownâ€. This way you don’t over promise. Set what you think is a reasonable starting price and lower it if there is no interest

·3 years agoGive the QEII decimals to someone who can use them for postage. Not worth selling. The minisheet at top give it to one of those charities that saves stamps for children. I've been in stamps for decades even sell older ones on ebay. Unfortunately these you have are not worth listing.

When asking for help, best to wait for the right responses. Sorry it felt like you were not being supported by the community. Most would not be mean-spirited enough to withhold help simply because there is a difference of opinion about eBay.

·3 years agoYou were given assistance, the block is worth very little. The others stamps are in very poor condition due to the perforation damage on the stamps.

OP3 years agoPlease explain about the damage. If you are talking about the portion with the slight curves, this is the way they were produced.

·3 years agooften times it will bring the value down, even if it was printed and cut like that to begin with. Ive collected stamps for 30 years and the learning never stops.

·3 years agoThe first set of stamps in the block look ok, all the rest you can see along the sides where they'd connect together with others stamps in the "Plate" or "Block" the edges... Those are called perforations, they are all damaged. That matters to any collector. In stamp collecting in general there is actual a gauge that measures said perforations as a stamp might be issued (more so in the past than present) whereby the imagery on the front of the stamp remains the same yet the perforation count/measurement is different to that others issued even though the imagery looks identical.

·3 years agoI don't recommend selling them. Stamp collectors are very picky about condition. Unless they were in mint condition they are not worth more than a few dollars...under 5 bucks.

·3 years agoI saw about 10-15 pounds in postage just off the top... that's why I said $15.
How picky the stamp buyer is depends on what they collect. The people who want $100 stamps are super picky (so much so that I'm afraid to list them.. however I have 50 or so to list).
My collections of non-valuable used stamps fetch good money as a little collection on a page. I do try to exclude anything damaged unless the stamp is somewhat uncommon or HFV... and I put a sticky on the page pointing at it to let buyers know it's damaged (and let me know to put something in the description about there being damaged stamps included).

OP3 years agoNot looking for anyone to do any research. If someone knows about these stamps, they would know the value within moments just by taking a look at the lot.

·3 years agoThere is stamp board on ebay and they can be very helpful. Ive gotten some really good advice and learned alot from that board. some of them are the most respected in the field. you can also go to the Scott website and do research there.

First, people here expect you to do your own research, using the web and using the tools eBay provides for it, such as studying Completed Listings and using Terapeak.
Second, many of us have learned the hard way that giving valuations give sus nothing but grief. If the stuff sells quickly at the price, we're accused of undervaluing it and losing the seller money. If the stuff sells slowly, we're accused of overvaluing it and wasting the seller's time and resources. If it sells for about the valuation, we never hear boo unless it's the seller saying he'd already figured it out.

·3 years agoI would be the first one to help you if I knew about stamps. I know nothing about stamps and would guess 99% of those who hang here knows nothing about stamps. There is one stamp seller so wait for that one person who knows about stamps and maybe they can help you. With that said even if I did know about stamps I would not help since you decided to call everyone on the boards names.

·3 years agoI was at the B&M store all day packing tokens and away from my computer... I only read your thread for the first time now.
That being said... I might try for $15. Yes QEII is still valid, but if they are mint and there's HFV stamps in there, you can sometimes get a bit more on account of them not being very common.

·3 years agoStamps of QEII in decimal currency are still valid for postage in the UK.
Mint postage sells in the country of origin for 505-75% of face generally.
Remember that the buyer will also be paying shipping and VAT/sales tax.
